My mother piped in “Avarie! You have a boyfriend and didn’t tell us!”
I felt color fly to my cheeks. Even though everyone instantly thought I was blushing because I was nervous about them asking about Cameron when really I was embarrassed that they had to bring it up in front of Jack.
I sighed “He’s not my boyfriend. We’ve gone out a few times to get to know each other. Neither of us are really ready to jump into something. We’re just friends for now.”
I glanced at Jack who looked a little bit better but not as happy as he could look.
Cassadee sighed “But you’ll be more than friends soon enough...”
I glared slightly “Cass, let’s just drop it.”
She glanced over at Jack sighed “Fine.”
Later Cassadee and I seemed to be alone for a few minutes.
She turned to me “Are you mad at me?”
I sighed “Why did you have to bring up Cam? Especially in front of Jack?”
She crossed her arms “I know you still love him but you need to move on.”
I glared slightly “And who are you to tell me when I need to move on.”
As I walked away from her I yelled “The good thing about me is I don’t listen to people or give a shit what they say cause I do what I want. Thanks for possibly causing more stress than good!”
I walk to the back of my bus hoping hanging out with other people will help distract me. I looked around and only Jack was there.
He smiled “Hey.”
“Where did everyone go?”
“Inside the venue. They heard you and Cass yelling and decided to give you two space.”
“And you’re still here?”
“I thought you might want to talk about it...”
“I actually rather forget it but thanks anyway.”
He handed me a beer “Well at least drink something. It will help with the stress.”
I took a long sip “Thanks...”
He nodded “No problem.”
We both just sat there clearly avoiding talking about what happened between us.
I turned to him “So how are you?”
He chuckled “Pretty good I guess. Been writing a lot. You?”
I nodded “Same...”
We sat there drinking a bit more. Two beers later I felt better and still in control. Jack seemed to be in control but not fully.
He turned to me leaning closer “You know I care about you right?”
I nodded feeling butterflies fill my stomach as he got closer. I leaned a little closer curious where this could lead.
He smiled “You care about me too. I can tell just by the look you give me.”
I smiled slightly wanting to say so much but couldn’t think straight.
He pressed his lips forcefully to mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him closer.
He pulled away smiling “I want to come visit you on tour when it can be just us to figure all this out.”
I nodded “I’ll save tickets for you.”
He smiled “That sounds great.”
