Bryson shifted his weight from his right foot to his left before giving me a short nod. "Yes. There is only one bedroom, but I will take the couch."

I sat there, perched on the stool, in utter shock. I really didn't expect him to offer to take the couch. In fact, I expected him to tell me he claims the bed. Yet, sitting there I saw that was not to be ... for once in a long while he was acting selfless. Smiling, I shook my head. "No, no, I will take the couch. It is not right for you to sleep on the couch. You own the place..." I proclaimed.

"Elle, don't argue with me on this. I have stated what is going to happen. You are a guest-"

"I'd hardly consider your fiancé a guest," I remarked as I cut him off.

He stiffened in place and allowed his mint green eyes to wander around the room. He was thinking ... that much was clear.

"Wait, where did I sleep when I was here last?"

Bryson's eyes finally settled on me. "Huh?"

"Remember, this is supposed to be a recreation of our first date. So tell me, where did I sleep last time? Or did we not stay the night here?"

"... Uhhh ... We stayed here ... You slept in the bed." He spoke the last part with confidence.

"Where did you sleep?" I corked an eyebrow as I wondered how close we got on our first date.

"On the couch," He quickly exclaimed.

I noted that he responded too quickly and his whole demeanor screamed: “I’m lying”. Yet, I decided not to question him on that any farther. “You were going to explain how you got me here the first time. I mean, we were enemies and then we suddenly became lovers."

Bryson gave a cringe, "We weren't lovers," He gritted.

I rolled my eyes, “It doesn’t matter what you call us: lovers, boyfriend and girlfriend, two people that are exclusive, or whatever term analogy you favor. All the same," I said as a smile reached my face. "Now, tell me, how did you get me out here?"

" ... Well ... I was driving out here ... And I saw you at a gas station, the one we stopped at earlier and you racked up with food at ... Errr ... You were ... Upset ... Yeah ... And I, being the kind guy I am, asked what was bothering you. You easily cracked under my charms and told me you were having some problems with your brother and friends-"

I arched an eyebrow, "From what I gathered we were mortal enemies. I highly doubt I would easily crack."

"... You were upset," He admitted again.

"Even if I was upset, I know myself enough to know I wouldn't tell you all of my problems..."

Bryson gave a sigh that was filled with aggravation. I was poking at what he said happened in order to see if he would change his story ... Because, for some reason I felt like he was lying ... But, I wasn't certain. The only way I could confirm my gut feeling was to test him.

"Well, maybe you don't know yourself as much as you think, because you told me about some rift going on between your brother and your friends. Anyways, I could tell you needed an escape. So, I offered you a free lodge at this cabin. You did hesitate in answering, but you soon agreed because you had nowhere else to go, especially since your home was a place you were desperately avoiding."

"So, you are saying that I was at this gas station ... You stopped there on your way here, saw me, offered me a stay here, and I agreed."

 "Yep."

 "I don't believe you."

"Sounds like a personal problem," He replied. "That is what happened. You came here with me and we, for once, didn't argue or fight. We actually got along exceptionally well ... Over the course of the weekend we realized we liked each other ... I made you dinner the last night and that was when we made our relationship official ... Since we made our relationship official at that dinner, we agreed to count it as our first date."
