Bryson didn't talk to me for the whole ceremony, which was a huge relief on my part. That damn boy really did know how to hit a nerve with me.

I'd always been vocal in all my highschool days. I'd a hard time trying to be silent and calm. Mentally, I figured that my loudness was the main reason why guys never asked me out.

Sighing to myself I hoped that my romantic life would change in college.

The second my name was called, I attempted to walk across the stage in order to get my diploma, only to have Bryson smack my butt before I stepped on the platform. I tried to hide my outraged face as I shook the hand of my principal and got my diploma.

"We love you, Elle!" I heard my brother's thunderous voice call out from the sea of audiences.

I forced myself not to laugh because the night before I begged him not to yell out my name or anything when I walked across the stage. Yet, even before I went to bed last night I knew he was going to shout something, it was too unlike him not too.

"We're officially done with high school!" Kat all but yelled in my ear as she raced over to me. Embracing me in a tight hug, Kat started to sway back and forth. "I'm going to miss you!"

"Kat, we have all summer -- three months, two days and nineteen hours before we go our separate ways. Save the tears," I told her as I feared that her crying might make me really realize that our days together were numbered.

Kat let go of me and sighed. "I know, but summer will come and go. I'm afraid that we will lose contact. Especially since we're going to two different colleges, each on opposite coast."

I opened my mouth to speak, but I heard a loud voice calling out to me. "Oh! Elle! You did amazing!" My mother cooed as she pushed past people to get to me. Her loving smile that she always seemed to wear was planted on her face. Wrapping me in a hug she started to weep.

"What is with the tears today? Is everyone on their time of the month?" I mumbled.

Releasing me, my mother rolled her brown eyes. "Can a mother not be proud of her daughter and cry tears of joy?"

"All I did was walk across a stage, Ma. It is not like I landed on the moon."

"In her eyes you did," Peter, my brother, stated as he walked over to me.

I glared at him as he towered over me. Silently, I cursed at myself for being so short.

Looking down at me with his coco brown eyes, Peter just grinned before ruffling my hair.

Quickly fixing it, I narrowed my eyes even more. "Don't you have to go back to your college?" I asked him as I began to wonder how long he was staying in town. You probably think I hate my brother, but on the contrary I actually really enjoy hanging out with him. That is, when he is not acting like an obnoxious older brother.

"Are you all ready to go out to dinner?" Ma questioned as she readjusted her knock-off Prada bag that was hanging off her shoulder.

I mentally chuckled at how cheap my mom could be some times. She always made sure she didn't pay full price for something. It was then I was reminded that she wasn't even going to help pay for my college. In return, leaving me with more debt than I could ever want to be in. Biting my tongue, I tried to stop myself from asking her again if she could help a little with my tuition because I was in no way going to ask my father.

"Actually, Mrs. White we're going to have a girl sleepover tonight at my house. A few of our senior friends are coming over and we're going to celebrate graduation. I can't believe Elle didn't tell you! We've been planning this for weeks!"
