It had been 12 years since Keiji graduated from Fukurodani. And the extra year Koutarou had waited for him to graduate was wasted, to see him immediately head to the University of Tokyo to pursue the job of being a doctor. Thankfully, it was only an hour away from their hometown, and where Koutarou resided. Koutarou's fantasies of living their lives together happily as soon as high school ended was tragically crushed.
Koutarou decided to be pursue the job of being a high school teacher, and only stayed in college long enough to get his bachelor's degree. Obviously, he became the PE teacher, and was also the coach for the volleyball team. He took the team to national's five of the seven years he's been teaching so far, and is still keeping up Fukurodani's legacy.
Even though Keiji was only an hour away, the two barely had any time for meet ups. Keiji's medical training took up too much of his free time, and Koutarou's free time was taken over by coaching the school's volleyball team. They would meet up at the most once a month, and sometimes, months without.
And obviously that made Koutarou quite insecure so Keiji had to make a few extra trips during that time period.
Kuroo and Kenma's relationship was still going strong. Kuroo's arm had healed perfectly fine, and much faster than the doctors had expected too. The two had moved into a small apartment as soon as Kenma graduated highschool. Kuroo had become a firefighter, and Kenma had become a game designer (obviously). They still stayed in the Kanto region and near their homes. Luckily their families didn't have much to say about their relationship, or more, they were surprised the two hadn't started dating sooner.
Keiji's father had been released a couple years before, but had never gotten in contact with Koutarou nor Keiji. Resa-san had contacted them and assured them that she was still keeping tabs on the man, so the two had nothing to worry about.
And after Keiji's 11 year medical schooling was over, he immediately head back to his hometown, surprising Koutarou when he arrived at his doorstep with all his belongings saying that he was moving in.
