"KUROO!" Kenma shrieked, not bothering to hold back tears as kneeled down at Kuroo's side and started sobbing. Kuroo writhed in pain, holding his bloody shoulder. Kuroo had jumped in front of Kenma just as Akaashi's father pulled the trigger.
Another gunshot rang out, a groan from Jousuuke following. Sawamura and Koushi ran to Jousuuke subduing him. Resa-san had shot him in the hand, forcing him to drop his gun, then she quickly flicked out her phone, calling for an ambulance.
"In the end i couldn't do anything!" Bokuto cried tears streaming down his face as he desperately tried to wipe them away. "Even that girl did more than I, and in the end even Kuroo got hurt!" Akaashi gently pushed Bokuto's arms away from his face, and cupped his cheek, using only one hand, then touching forheads with the crying boy.
"You did more than enough," Akaashi said smiling slightly, as a few tears broke through his guard too. "In the end we are still kids who aren't in control of our own lives." And if anyone, I'm the one to blame for everything, Akaashi thought. I deserve more than just a dislocated arm.

After the incident, Kuroo was admitted into the hospital. Akaashi's arm was relatively easier to fix with a bit of pain.
Jousuuke Akaashi was put under 10 years of jail time, under the specific watch of Resa. Resa's punishment for acting on her own and dragging along teenagers and coworkers was a demotion to a standard officer for a year.
Keiji was put under Resa's custody, but, at the Bokuto's assent, Keiji was allowed to live in Koutarou's house until high school graduation. Koutarou's parents held no opposition to the matter or their relationship since they appreciated Keiji's presence.
Resa-san didn't have much to say about Keiji and Koutarou's relationship. More, she didn't feel like she had the right to say anything, given the fact that it was she who had originally left Akaashi to the hands of the twisted man she had undeniably fallen in love with formerly. Inside, she did blame herself for everything, but she never had the courage to say anything or talk to the poor child. Though she did admit that she was a terrible mother, she didn't take any actions to improve on that.
Keiji and Koutarou finally started referring to eachother by their given names, one of the main reasons being Keiji calling out to Bokuto would cause Koutarou's whole family to respond.
Kiyoko had bid farewell to Akaashi after exchanging contact information, and left to search for her brother.
Bokuto would always blame himself for what had happened to Kuroo, but both Akaashi and Kuroo would assure him it was not his fault. Kuroo couldn't play volleyball for the next half of the year. His final year.
Even though Kuroo put up a strong front, Kenma would often find his pillow wet in the morning, or when he went to bed later than Kuroo.
Keiji updated Bokuto on everything that had occurred while he was in the warehouse, and Koutarou told the tale of how he had finally found Keiji.
Half a year passed, and Koutarou, graduated and moved out of his parent's house bringing Keiji along with him. His parents were much more saddened to hear that Keiji was leaving than their own obnoxious son.
Another year passed and Keiji graduated.
This time it was his turn to leave.
The second time he's left Bokuto.
