Prologue

Linda walked up to the front gates and the security guard allowed her entry with a sincere smile on his lips.

It would be beyond ironical to state that she was loved by only her students in this school. For every now and then a teacher or student would greet her with a huge, apparent grin and she would respond with a corresponding lovely beam on her face.

She made her way towards her class, dressed in professional attire and with her hair neatly secured in a bun. Her top reached mid-thigh and was paired with slim-fit denims. Her standard-inched heels clicked onto the tiled floor with every graceful step forth and as she entered her class, one could say that she was simply a different persona.

The care-free innocence of her students had captured her heart and core, in an instance. It was them who helped wash away the wounds that were severed badly in her heart, with the aura of love – and love alone, that each child carried.

They were also the reason of a joyful intrigue to look forward to another day. Being with them, neither a disturbed past nor a troubled future ever mattered to her.

She showered them with a smile that could melt any-one’s heart away, “Good-morning, students.”

“Good morning, teacher,” they responded in unison, as always, in perfect adoration.

Her day was off by a half past eleven o’ clock. She conversed with every other teacher, laughing every now and then at a cracked joke. Gradually, the entire staff left and the Principal spoke to her at the hallway.

“Miss. Linda, how were the children’s performance today?”

“Perfect, sir – in a couple of weeks I’d have them trained for the concert.”

“Good, that was just what I wanted to hear. Good day to you,” he said and bid her farewell. Linda eyed him leaving past the gates and quickly hurried to the teacher’s room to adorn her leather black jacket and trousers. Tucking the helmet under her arm, she seized the perfect moment and made a stealthy dash from Soaring High Junior.

Her bike was parked at an alleyway, in a shadowy corner. Linda inserted the keys and the magnificent black bike whirred to life.

Before she could place the helmet on her head, though, a guy stopped at the lane and turned.

Was that Becky, her student, clutching his arm? Had the male caught a glimpse of her? She shrugged those thoughts away.Nothing ever frightened her ever since, for she was a changed, better person. Not a meek, down-to-earth girl any longer.

Swiftly, she wore her protective cover and sped away. No-one should know of her identity – not even the school, nor an outsider. That was a secret she would carry to the grave in the residence of an un-known land.

Meanwhile, Linda drove dissolutely wherein the speedometer’s indicator was precisely at the speed limit. She loved the adrenaline, nonetheless, with the booze and the gush of wind that blew past her. In no time, she had parked the black beauty at the parking-lot near the white-washed building.

Striding up-to it, she removed her helmet and greeted the Headmistress formally, “Hello, Ma’am.”

“Hello, Mrs Linda! Come on inside. She’s been waiting for you,” said Madam Candice. She was of large build, nonetheless, a generous and benevolent lady. A large smile had radiated from her, having sighted the exquisite twenty year old youth.

“Sure, ma’am,” Linda acknowledged, also grinning, and allowed the lady to lead the way.

Her life had taken up the same monotonous routine. It was an alteration for the best, though, she felt. For life had to go on – it had to, hadn’t it?

She sighed; that was her belief and she clung steadfastly onto it.
