Rebekah waved a hand. "Don't worry, no one will ever believe that we, of all people, would do something so heartless. It's practically an infringement of human rights."
"But we can't trust the wizard Pendragon."
"Of course we can't. But we can't let him get closer to his former country either. This will smooth the way for Nic, and it'll be easier for us to get information. Besides, have you forgotten the cornerstone of our diplomatic relations with Sakoku?"
The bodyguard who dared to speak out of turn coloured. "No, of course not."
"So, what is it?"
"Isolate them at all costs."
President Rebekah nodded. "Precisely," she said, her eyes narrowing. "Pendragon will see this as a harmless hiring test, and we will be just as surprised at the backlash as everyone else. There is no way that we will suffer any consequences, I've made sure of it."
