Malia's p. O. V

It was a beautiful Saturday, I was reading a book on my phone, yes I had gotten a hang on how to operate the phone, I had downloaded music and apps including wattpad.
I was reading a book before I decided to stop and look around my room.
You guessed right, I was back at home.

It has been two weeks since my leg injury, two weeks since I left Masons place, two weeks since I bought my freedom with my income from the diner, two weeks since mom found out I was working there, two agonizing weeks since Becca has been making life a living hell at the dinner.

My phone rang and Tiana's name came up, I picked it up instantly. "Hi Malia are you coming for the party"

I wasn't sure if I should go to the party but I guess I should probably enjoy this freedom of mine that I bought. I nodded my head and once I realised she couldn't see me I spoke up.

"Yes Ti, I will be coming to the party".

"That's good, I will pick you up by 7:30, is that alright by you" she sounded cheerful.

"sure" then she hung up.

I checked the time it was 12:00, my mind wandered to the time when my mom found out.

*Flashback*
I was working late at the diner that day. I went into the kitchen to get the order of one of the customers. I stepped out using my back to push the door open, as I turned my eyes landed on the same brown ones and an evil smirk played on her face.

"Hello daughter" she said the last word with venom, "M-mum, w-what a-are y-you d-doing h-here?" I stammered in fear, I couldn't believe she was here, how did she find out. My whole body was shivering even the tray and its contents shook with my trembling body.

"Is that how to greet your mum, Malia, I raised you well" I wanted to roll my eyes but decided against it, I saw how her hands were shaking she was itching to slap me but she couldn't, I guess I was safe but not for long. "I will be waiting for you outside" she pinched my cheeks and I flinched then she patted them.

She left after that.

I looked around and saw Rose, Felix, Mason and Becca all watching as the scene unfolded, I gave Rose an apologetic look and dropped the tray at the counter then I left the diner.  Once I came out, she was leaning on the wall with a drink in her hand, gulping it down like water. The very woman who bore me. I walked up to her with as much strength as I could muster.

Once I approached her she placed the bottle in her purse and turned to face me. She slapped me and shouted profanities at me, she said I should come home and I could gain freedom if I gave her out of my income weekly, I agreed and she walked away, I don't know how long I stood there crying but I felt numb.

After a while, I felt strong arms around my waist and I knew it was Mason, he pulled me to him and I cried on his chest clinging to his shirt, after my break down I looked up at him and I didn't like what I saw.... Pity. I pulled away instantly, I don't like people feeling pity towards me it only made me angry.

"Leave me alone Mason" I shouted at him and I saw anger flash in his eyes. "So I did bad by coming outside to be with you?"

I scoffed, "Did I say I needed that or do I look like a charity case to you?" What kind of support is that, he should keep it to himself, I looked over his shoulder and I saw Becca.
