Chapter 20
Mali's POV.
Few weeks later
Stretching my body on the huge and soft bed, I opened my eyes to the little ray of sunshine that escaped my Windows blindfold.
It was finally test week and I was currently staying at my dads place, this place is just too wonderful, I wouldn't want to leave it ever. Waking up to freshly made breakfast, a happy family and the beautiful sight of the estate from my room.
My door opened a crack before it was opened fully, and Diane walked in with a huge smile on her face. She walked to my bed and sat at the edge the smile never leaving her face.
"Morning sweetie, I see you're looking good this morning, did you sleep well?" she asked me folding her hands around her chest.
"I feel great Diane, thanks for everything" I told her as I sat up resting my head against the head board. "Where is Ben?" I was confused, Ben usually comes to my room with Diane. And just then his small form appeared at the door, he was wearing a PJ too long for him.
I have told him several times to stop wearing it, that he might trip on it but he never listens. He looks cute in them and it does bring out the color of his eyes. His eyes were closed as he stood there, I knew instantly that he was still sleepy. Diane's voice pulled me out of my train of thoughts.
"Ha, speak of the little devil" Diane's voice had this cheerful sound to it, it made Ben open his eyes. At first he stood confused, then he ran to my bed and jumped on my body.
Laughter escaped my mouth. Ben he can never change, he does this every morning. I wonder why.
"Morning buddy, how are you?" he yawned and then he replied saying he was happy to see me here. He sees me every morning. He said morning to Diane and she pecked his forehead then he hugged her.
"Okay people, its time for breakfast, go freshen up and meet us down at the kitchen" she stood up and took Ben out with her leaving me to freshen up and get ready for school.

The time was really running slow, I had finished my test an hour ago and we still had an hour to go for the test to be over, my eyes were beginning to hurt. I have been staring at the clock for so long.
My leg kept swaying from side to side as I watched the clock tick, each tick my leg swayed .... Help me God my butt was literally on fire, I don't like sitting in one place for a very long time.
Seconds, minutes and finally the time sped up. As soon as I heard the bell and watched as the teacher collected test sheets, she kept walking slowly.
'For a young woman, she walks slower than a granny' I rolled my eyes at myself.
As she reached my table I handed her my paper, took my bag and ran out of the class. Due to my speed I collided with someone's hard chest. A hummp left my mouth and I lost my footing but a pair of hands wound around my waist to keep me from falling.
His cologne gave him away, I looked up at the pair of grey eyes I have become accustomed to this past few weeks.
"Thanks Mason" he steadied me and let me go "you're welcome, watch where you're running to next time, clumsy" I glared at him, he just shrugged. "Come on let's get out of here" and that was how we left the schools premises to God knows where Mason was taking me to.
He drove for hours only stopping at a burger shack to get something to eat. I kept on asking where we were going but all I got was silence, I got frustrated and stopped asking , I turned my head towards the window and watched as cars, houses and trees went by.
The car finally stopped and I was greeted with the beautiful view of the ocean. We were at the beach. So the jerk couldn't at least say two words 'THE BEACH', what a moron.... I turned to face him and I saw something flash in his eyes.... It looked like hurt and worry but it was gone so fast that I couldn't believe if it was ever there.
"So, why are we here?" He didn't say anything for so long that the silence was killing me, only our breathe could be heard. At last he moved, he pulled off his seatbelt, turned off the engine and told me to follow him.
Does he expect me to just follow him like that, please he should try a better approach. I sat down not moving an inch. His face appeared at my window side and it startled me. I looked at his side and looked at the window.
"You were over there, how did you..., never mind". I opened the door "don't answer the question" and I slammed the door following his retreating figure as he went.'He just has to start acting weird all of a sudden, sometimes he confuses me.' I looked at his back, his hands were tucked in his pockets, he was all nice at school and at the burger shack but at the beach? he changed.
He is one of the nicest person I have ever met. Note the sarcasm.
I collided with his back. Okay I'm very clumsy today, he is sooo.... I saw the smirk that played on his face and decided not to complete my words. I heard him mutter "clumsy" before he continued the walk.
I'm tired, I choose not to keep on walking, the sand keeps dragging me back. I'm thirsty and really tired. I dropped down, folded my hands and legs. He can keep on walking without me.
Five minutes later his shadow covered mine on the floor. "Are you done with your whole creepy man period?" I didn't look at him as I asked.
He sat beside me and sighed. "I'm sorry about that" there was sincerity in his voice but I ignored him. "Humm" was the only thing that came out of my mouth before I stood up and walked anywhere but there.
He thinks he can just say sorry and it would pay for all those silent treatment he gave me.
"I'm sorry Mali, please" I heard his voice behind me and chose to ignore again. Suddenly I wasn't walking, I was in the air, my body bouncing on a certain someone's shoulder. "Mason put me down" my hands drummed his back, I saw water below us and I panicked. "Mason, don't you....." Too late I was dumped in the water, when I resurfaced I completed my sentence "dare..." I wish looks could kill at this moment because he would have died with the look I gave him. He was laughing, oh so this is funny to you.
It was late now and we were heading back home to the house to get some books before he takes me back to my father's place.
We swam a little after the whole throw me in the water scene passed. I was wearing Mason's sweatshirt, at least he had something in his car, the evening was so cool and breezy which caused me to shiver in the water but once Mason noticed he said we should get going.
He parked at the front of the house and I got down, "I won't take long" I told him then shut the car door as I jogged up the part to the house. I opened the door and the house was quiet, I'm guessing no ones home but the lights where on.
I climbed the stairs to my room, once I opened the door I could not believe the mess the room was in. All my stuffs where scattered on the ground, someone must have gotten pretty angry this past few weeks I wasn't here. I jumped over some items and went to the side of my bed where I kept my books. I wasn't surprised they were scattered, I bent down and picked the necessary ones.
"Hello Malia" that voice, that voice made all the hairs on my body stand and my body went rigid. This cannot be happening now, it can't be.
I felt him standing at my back, his breath on my neck and images of that night flashed by. It was one person I dreaded the most. I turned praying that I wouldn't see who I thought it was.
To my disappointment it was HIM my worst nightmare.
Standing in front of me was Charlie, my eyes shot open "Uncle charlie" I whispered his name and that devilish smirk played on his horrid face.
***********
Oh my gosh,
The devil just had to appear, what will happen to Malia now, will Mason save her this time or would things turn out worst.........
