Malia's p.o.v

I purposely came to school late wearing a hoodie over my head, I didn't want anybody questioning me about my bruise. She had made me come to school today and I didnt have any choice but to attend.

I stepped into the hall and the corridor was quiet, I turned left heading to my locker when I saw Ti standing close to it.

"Shit" I cursed out. She wasn't looking at my direction and I was a few feet close to the ladies room but one thing bothered me, I couldn't go in without her notice.

We were having English and Mr Howard doesn't like hoodies in his class, plus late coming was what tipped him off, maybe Ti came late and that's why she is standing outside.  I watched her for some time and when I saw that she was moving away from my locker I took a sprint.

My bag took that precious moment to fall off my shoulders, the sound made her look back , I picked it up and ran in the restroom and entered one of the stalls locking the door.

I heard the door open and foot steps approach, I was praying inwardly that she doesn't come any closer.  The door opened again and I heard a teachers voice.

"Miss Cameroon, what are you doing out of class" the voice was soft but stern at the same time .

"I took an excuse from the teacher" the place was silent for a while which means the teacher and Ti were having a staring contest .

"Show me your permit" the teacher finally spoke, I knew the teacher would let it go easily if he saw Tiana's permit and I knew she had one always in her bag.... She never returned it after she asked for it and the teacher never asked, so I knew she was saved.

After a while, I heard the door close twice, so my guess was she had  gone after the teacher. I opened my stall door and walked to the mirror, pulling the hoodie from my head. The marks on my face didn't look too serious at least the swelling had gone down a little .

I saw a human form behind me and I screamed, I held my chest. "Oh its just you" I faced the mirror and that's when I realized it was Ti. My eyes went wide, I'm so stupid. I didn't hear the door open, I was too deep in thoughts.

"E-e-ehm" I stuttered , I cleared my throat "ehm, hi " I waved awkwardly at her through the mirror. I looked at her face and it looked angry, she's meant to be screaming my head off right now.
'Five,four,three,two,one...'

"Don't, hi ehm me or whatever, where the hell have you been?" I was about to reply but she stopped me. "Don't answer that, what about the marks on your face?" I opened my mouth to talk but she interrupted, I should just let her finish "I'm through you can speak now" a smile spread across my face, then she spoke again "what's making you smile" I shook my head .

"OK, so where have I been?" She growled, "OK , I will talk" I raised my hands in surrender "on the road to school, I have been on the road coming to school" she used her pointy finger to tell me to continue "this things on my face are the signs of my stupidity" and weakness. I wanted to say.

"You're making me smile, I mean you look cute angry" I pinched her cheeks.
"Oh do I , do I ?".... She was moving closer to me till her face was close to mine... "Do I look cute to you now" her voice was stern . 'OK, something is wrong somewhere'. She backed away and adjusted her shirt.

"Ti, what's wrong?" She wanted to speak but I stopped her "nuhuh, its my turn now" I smirked "whatever, carry on" she rolled her eyes. "What's got you so pissed and I know its not me, its Tyler right?" She sighed and nodded, "You see right through me".

'You see right through me, how do you do that shit' my sub conscience sang, I smiled widely, Ti looked at me like I was crazy or something.

'This is not the time to joke Malia' I rolled my eyes, 'as if it wasn't you that was joking' I blocked out my sub conscience after that.

"Do you want to talk about it" she sighed "I don't think so"  I nodded "if you do I'm here".

"Lets leave here, first period should be over about" I checked my phone's time "Now" and just then the bell went off.

"Lets go , I don't want to be late for literature, I love that subject not" she said it like she meant it, I laughed at her.  "Don't worry, I'll be there if you need me" I winked at her and we left smiling.

I stopped us in our tracks "how about we Skip, I don't feel like attending any class.... In fact lets skip the whole four periods before lunch" I suggested
"Lets do it, I'm not in the mood for answering questions or writing anything" she answered.

And so we skipped the whole four periods, I slept throughout the whole period, I didn't know I was that tired.

After school , I noticed that my body was getting a little bit warm, I was sneezing  and I felt really weak, so I pulled off the hoodie once I got to the diner.

"Hi Rose, hey Felix" my voice sounded croaked and I felt pain in my throat. They both looked at me shock written over their faces, they must have noticed the bruise. I didn't give them time to reply so I went to the back and looked at myself in the mirror, I would say that wasn't a pretty sight ... I looked really sick. Just then I sneezed and coughed.

I cannot fall sick at this time, its just not possible. I  pulled my apron over my head and went to bust tables. As I was clearing a table of one of the customers a sneeze escaped my mouth and lets just say he was not happy.

"I'm so .... Achu.... Sorry" I apologized and ran out of their to the restroom. I took as much tissue that i could to wipe my nose. As I threw the used tissue in the waste bin the door to the restroom opened and Mason stood there looking so fine.

I mean every time I see him, it is like we are just meeting for the first time, those gray eyes looking at me with worry, those hands that lifted me when I fell and that was wrapped around me when I sleep. He is so hmmm... I don't think words can do justice to this God gift in front of me .

"Hey, are you okay? ... My grandma said I could find you here, you don't look so good" he moved closer to me his hands resting on my shoulders ever so lightly, like he knew putting more pressure would break me.

"I'm fine... Achu... Achu.. Seri..achu .. Seriously I'm fine" even a blind man could see that I was lying , I mean I just sneezed thrice and yet I said I was fine. He gave me a quizzical look, those eyebrows of his looking so good.

"I'm fine Mace" I tried assuring him

All of a sudden my legs were no longer touching the ground, I was in Mason's arms. He was carrying me bridal style.

"Don't lie to me, you're not"

He took me out of there and out front.

"I'm taking her home grandma"

He called as he left the kitchen, I saw the smile on Rose's face before the door closed.

"Mason, put me down I can walk" I smiled because I said a sentence without sneezing.

"I'm happy for you" Mason replied

"Did I say that out loud?"

He laughed

"Obviously you did"

I rolled my eyes.

He put me in his car and pulled the seatbelt over me "I could ....achu, have done that myself, you know?"  He leaned in closer to my ear and whispered "I know you could have"

Mason's lips grazed my ear making me to shiver. I think he noticed because he laughed. "Jerk" I muttered as he closed my door.

He got to the drivers side, started the engine and went off.
