Ezra's P.O.V

The nurse came over and Hera got up, walking towards her. I just stayed in my seat and waited for Hera. I still could hear the conversation though. "I'm sorry to say this but, something paralyzed your husband's eyes and cannot see anymore," the nurse said, "he is also in an likely unstable coma so please don't touch him". The nurse walked off to do some more work. I pulled my knees up to my chest and into a fetal position. Hera came back over and sat down giving me some comfort. "It'll be ok, you'll see," she said softly. For some reason I just got mad and started to squeeze my arms to stop myself from yelling at Hera. She noticed my grip on my arm, "Ezra, what's wrong honey?". " Everything is not ok! Nothing is ok! Kanan is in the hospital and could be laying on his death bed! And if he does wake up, he is going to be blind!" I erupted with anger. I covered my mouth and stared at Hera with wide eyes. She gave me a sad look and turned her attention to the floor.

"Hera?" I barely squeaked out. "Sit down and don't say another word," she said disturbing quiet with clenched teeth. I sat down and wrapped my arms around myself. I didn't want to look in the direction Hera was sitting in so I turned it to something else.

Hera's P.O.V

We sat there for about an hour in silence. That boy was in big trouble after we know what is going to happen with Kanan. The same nurse came over to us, "you two can go see Mr. Jarrus, but he is still in a coma". She walked away and I started to walk to the room where Kanan was. I was about to open the door when I noticed that Ezra didn't follow me. I walked back to the waiting room and saw him just sitting there. I stood in front of him and crouched down to make eye contact. Ezra knew I was there but still kept his attention in that same direction. I saw tear tracks on his face and red eyes from crying.

I brushed the side of his face, moving some bangs out of the way. He was trying not to lean into my warm touch. Finally, Ezra turned and faced me with the same guilty and sad expression. I gave him a confident smile and said, "lets go see how your father is doing". I stretched out my hand in hope that he would take it. Skinny fingers slid themselves into my grasp and pulled him up. We walked hand in hand to Kanan's room to give each other support. I turned the knob and opened the door the reveal a man in a hospital bed with tubes connected to him. His head was all bandaged up so they couldn't see his face except for the nose. We both walked in and grabbed a seat, sitting next to the bed. I wasn't allowed to touch him so instead I talked to see if anything happens.

Third Person's P.O.V

"Kanan, if you can hear us, give us some kind of sign," Hera said. Nothing happened. Ezra gripped onto Hera's hand a little tighter. She didn't mind it, if it meant the boy was getting comfort from it. "Don't lose hope, Ezra," Hera spoke softly, "he'll make it". Ezra gave her a smile meaning that he agreed with her. She returned the gesture and gave Ezra a hug. "Get better soon, Kanan," Ezra said, "we will be waiting". He was shocked at what happened next. Hera placed a kiss on the top of his head still holding the boy in her arms. They both had tears in there eyes and savored each moment that they had with Kanan still alive.

Ezra and Hera stayed by Kanan's bed side for hours until it was time to go. They told him stories and joked around. Hera packed her things into her purse and a nurse came in telling them that visiting hours were over. Ezra and Hera walked out of the place and drove off into the night back to there home.

Dr. Sherman was in Kanan's room looking over some papers when a long beep suddenly made him stop. He quickly caught on that his patient was dying. The patient was losing blood and was having trouble breathing. Sherman called for some help in the room and nurses and doctors came in, immediately.

Hera's P.O.V

I was awoken by the sound of the phone ringing. I took a quick glance at the clock and picked up the phone. 'Who in the world would be calling at one in the morning,' I thought. That was until I saw the number. I pressed the talk button on the phone. "Hello," I said. "Is this Hera Jarrus?" The person on the other side of the phone asked. "Yes," I replied. "I'm sorry to inform you that your husband has passed away," they said. I almost fell off of the bed. Tears cascaded down my face and my breathing was starting to speed. "I'm so, so sorry Mrs. Jarrus, we tried everything we could," the person said. "It's ok, thank you," I said hanging up the phone and cried my eyes out. I couldn't fall asleep. With little information, there was still a bunch of things on my mind. I heard Chopper let out his own cry too. I gave him a sad pat and just didn't know what else to do. Wait, what am I talking about? I do know what I have to do. I will take care of Ezra as if he was my own like I have done since the beginning. That's what Kanan would want me to do, and so I promise myself and for the sake of my family to keep them safe and happy.

I finally had sleep take me into a peaceful slumber. With one thing in my head, 'how am I going to tell Ezra?'. Then, I was out like a light.
