Chapter 24 - A Message

I was down at breakfast with the other Gryffindors and it was Wednesday, two days since our class with Professor Ravensdale and we hadn't yet recieved our first letters.

Professor Ravensdale had said that they may take a few days but everyone was still looking expectantly at the little windows near the roof where the owls would soar in and deliver letters any minute now.

I sipped my mug of tea and bit into an apple. We were to have Potions first thing with Professor Grifiths with the Slytherins. Most of the first years at the Gryffindors did look pretty dejected - no one liked Potions except perhaps Albert or Britt who really liked any class.

Lacey would be skipping Potions today (lucky girl!) to have a meeting with the headmistress, the first since her accident.

Sure enough, the owls swooped through the windows over head, there was a flock of them wearing blue collars with a gold medallion dangling from it. They each carried a scroll.

The flock of owls dropped scrolls everywhere, one landed on my own plate and I picked it up:

The Beauxbatons Academy of Magic

To; Charlotte Weasley,

Hogwarts

From; Ophelie Castien,

Beauxbatons

I waved the scroll around frantically; Valery had also recieved one, as did Arnold. "The letters have come!" I proclaimed ecstatically. Britt and Lacey looked over my and Valery's shoulders as we undid the blue ribbon that tied it together. It was written in a bubbly cursive font and bright blue ink;

Dear Charlotte,

As you already know, my name is Ophelie Castien, your penpal.. I really have no idea what to write, our International Corresspondance teacher, a fowl man named Bonhomme who is as contrary to his name as one can be, is looking over my shoulder as I write this. Good thing he can't read much English. I wonder why he got the job then..

Well, moving on. Professor Bonhomme gave us each a sheet of things to include in our first letter. I guess we have to start somewhere anyways so here goes:

Age - 11 (same as you)

Likes/Dislikes - hmm.. tough one. Well I dislike Professor Bonhomme.. people who read other peoples letter *cough* Bonhomme *cough*, eh I should move on from him. I also do not like potions. What I do like is horseback riding (my parents own a stable not to far from my house), charms, Defensive Magic (I believe it is called Defense Against the Dark Arts over in Britain?) well anyways I also like choclate.. like alot.    And fashion - it is just so interesting and fun

Next question, How would you describe yourself? - Boy I hate this question! I mean I should like to think that I am all selfless and super honest all that but that would be a lie, for the most part. I would say, fiesty, adventurous, fun, spunky, but everyone seems to like me so I guess you could say I am charming? Sounds good to me so I'll go with it.

Finally done with those stupid questions! And one final thing I also like.. Pranking.

Don't worry, I won't trick you, you seem nice.

So yeah, I cannot wait for your next letter but in the meantime I shall try my best not to punch Bonhomme! (Something that I have been trying to do forever and I have not failed yet - surprisingly enough!)
