I prayed every day and night the following week to keep Fab 5 away from my path. My prayers had worked because I had not run into them. I knew they hung around the music room so I had avoided that floor like the plague.

My week had been great, I had tackled that math homework and on top of that, I had aced a chemistry test. My grandma would be so proud of me.

"Hello? You there?" Someone poked me in the shoulder, ripping me from my thoughts.

"Oh sorry," I mumbled with a shy smile at the beautiful girl in front of me.

"Sorry for startling you, but my locker is beside yours and you were kind of in the way. I'm new here by the way," she chuckled, running her fingers through her long hair.

"I'm sorry, I was just thinking about something and did not see you." I moved to the side so she could access her locker.

"I'm Navya by the way, but you can call me Navi. I prefer my nickname," she said with a bright smile, extending her hand to me.

I shook her hand and returned the smile. "I'm Nandini."

"I transferred to this college today," she told me as she opened her locker.

I took a good look at her. She had a nice complexion and beautiful straight hair. She looked like an actress.

"Do you mind showing me around? I got lost earlier," she asked me with pleading eyes

"Do you mind showing me around? I got lost earlier," she asked me with pleading eyes.

"Yeah, sure. I will show you around," I said, nodding.

"My father got a new job here so we had to move. I'm kind of sad because I had to leave all my friends behind," she said as we both closed our lockers.

"That must have been hard because I got transferred recently too and I still didn't get used to it," I told her.

"I'm kind of excited I got into this college you know," she said after a while.

"Why?" I asked, feeling curious. There was nothing special about this college. In fact, I didn't like it here at all.

"Because of someone," she giggled, her cheeks turning slightly pink.

"Someone?"

"Mmm..my boyfriend, well ex-boyfriend," she revealed, fumbling with the straps of her handbag.

I furrowed my eyes, feeling even more confused.

"It's a long story, Nandini. I will tell you someday," she chuckled and hooked her arm through mine. "Want to have lunch together?"

"Yeah, sure" I smiled, feeling happy because I had made my first friend.

...

"So tell me about all the fun stuff to do around here?" Navi rambled on. She was bubbly and loved talking about everything and nothing. I liked her personality.
