Chapter 9:

My overactive mind refused to put me to sleep until my body was just too exhausted too keep up. I was rudely awakened in the afternoon of the next day by impatient banging on my front door. Jerking awake, I rolled onto the floor and half crawled, half walked my way to the door.

“Hikaru...” I mumbled as I tried to open the lock with my eyes closed “Did you lose your key again? I can’t keep making you a new one…”

I finally made the lock cooperate and turn to the right and turned my face away as a blast of sunlight hit me right in the face. I groaned and covered my eyes “Hikaru…why don’t you come visit at a decent time…it’s so early.”

“It’s four in the afternoon.” A deep voice replied dryly.

I squinted at the shadowed by the sun in confusion. This person wasn’t Hikaru, they were too tall, and had too much hair…

“Issen?”

“Obviously. I doubt you have a horde of men beating down your door very often.”

I scrunched up face in annoyance as I comprehended the sentence that had just come out of Issen’s mouth.

Douchebag.

Wait a second; Issen was at my front door?

“How the hell do you know where I live?” I asked.

Issen shrugged and let out a put open sigh before peering around down the hallway.

“Hikaru gave me your address.”

A little itch of annoyance rose up in the back of my throat but I swallowed it down. Hikaru was only trying to help me, even if it meant me being a little uncomfortable. Issen suddenly stared down at me with his sunglass covered eyes.

“Are you going to let me in or what?”

I fumbled with my body and swung the door open to let him in. Issen walked passed me and walked towards the inside of my house. However, I noticed he was stepping over the ledge to leave his shoes and just walking in.

“Hey! Take your shoes off.”

Issen looked down at his loafers and shrugged before toeing them off.

“I forgot. Whenever I got to Hikaru’s house she says it doesn’t matter, the maids clean the floors either way.”

“You’ve been to Hikaru’s house?” I couldn’t help but ask.

Issen nodded and flopped down onto my couch.

“Yeah, I got paid really well that night. Paid for this watch.”

Issen thrusted his wrist at my face and made me take in the gleaming gold of his Rolex watch.

“Did you…did you sleep with her?”

Issen rolled his eyes and let out a snort of disbelief.

“Please, do you think this is the first rich bitch who’s ever tried to buy me? You never sleep with women like Hikaru, when you do, you lose the game.”

I twisted my lips in annoyance at how casually Issen referred to Hikaru as a bitch. Hikaru was anything but.

“What game?”

The game. I’m the prize. The relationship is the game. Women like Hikaru try to gauge how much money it takes for them to sleep with you. Once they get the dick all that good money goes missing. I didn’t waste my time with a woman like that to let my dick get in the way of my job. I’m not an idiot.”
