Part II: One Hour
Adele Black: The End
One Hour
I guess we did have a lot of explaining to do.
The look in Lupin's eyes was still one filled with rage, and there was a hint of betrayal in it. In fact, that seemed to be evident in nearly everybody's eyes as they looked at me.
"We had to get Voldemort mortal. He had these things, Horcruxes, which are basically what you split with your soul," Harry began.
"Horcruxes are a very advanced piece of dark magic. You split your soul by killing someone and put it in something. An everyday object, for example. Voldemort had seven of them. His diary, the locket of Salazar Slytherin, Helga Hufflepuff's cup, Marvolo Gaunts's ring, Rowena Ravenclaw's diadem- which is a crown, well, more of a tiara- and Nagini. Harry was also one," I corrected the boy.
"So I went to the forest to let Voldemort kill the Horcrux inside of me," Harry began to explain his part of the plan. "But Adele and I met up in the hallway before I did so. I gave her the sword of Godric Gryffindor and made it smaller. She put it in her pocket, and she and I quickly came up with something."
"Nagini was the only Horcrux left once Harry came back in Hagrid's arms. And, since I know a lot of things on various subjects, I knew that Harry himself was not dead. Just the Horcrux in him was. I knew that I had to confront Voldemort."
A chill still ran through the air as his name was said. Honestly, people need to get over not being able to say his name.
"And we both knew that the only person that Voldemort would listen to would be Adele," Harry continued for me. "After all, he seemed to have a likening for Blacks. Except for Sirius, but that doesn't matter right now."
"So I confronted him. You all saw my speech. I was going to keep on going until he offered me something and asked me to go to his side," I told them all. "So I knew that when he did, I had to take that chance."
"That doesn't explain how that snake- Nagini, or whatever- warmed up to you so quick," Hermione countered.
"Hermione, I thought you of all people should know the answer to this. You are smart enough to be a descendent of Athena," I arched a blonde eyebrow at her.
"You can understand snakes?" Hermione asked.
I laughed, and gave a slight nod.
"My mother, Athena, is of course, the goddess of wisdom and war. She, like the rest of the Gods, have symbols that represent them. Hers are the owl, olives, Aegis- which is a shield with Medusa's head on it- and armor, spears, helmets, Gorgoneion and lastly, snakes."
"So that means... Snakes like you, to a point?" Ron asked.
I nodded. "So I knew that then, I was able to kill Nagini, thus making Voldemort mortal once more."
"And then you all saw what happened. Between Riddle and I," Harry finished up.
Everybody but one person seemed to believe us. That one person was Mr. Remus Lupin.
Well, he gave Harry a look of belief, but he gave me a look that was still full of anger.
Giving Harry a satisfied nod, Lupin let him go and the said man dragged me out of the hall by the arm.
We were right outside of the big oak doors, and that was when he started yelling at me.
"I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT YOU DID THAT!" Lupin yelled.
"Can't believe that..." I scoffed. "Athena always has a plan, Lupin."
"Yes! She does! But I don't think any of her plans have ever involved turning to the dark side!"
"First off, I didn't turn to the dark side. I used my resources."
"You went over to Voldemort without fighting him," Lupin accused.
"I actually fought him with my words, you idiot," I sassed back.
"But you were still quick enough to go to the other side!" Lupin accused me, anger evident in his voice.
"I think of plans quick, Remus. You know that. Being on the verge of death for your whole life does that to a person," I fought back.
"Obviously," he spit out.
There was an awkward silence between us.
I was looking at a speck of dust, simply lying on my shoe, unable to experience the horrible life I had.
"Your father would be proud of you, you know," the man said after a while, his eyes looking at right into mine.
"I know he would be. But there's... There's so many things we should have done together, me and him," I choked out, finally letting the tears I held in about my father's death fall from my eyes and roll down my cheeks like raindrops on a car window. "It makes no sense. Why did he have to die?"
"He died for something he believed in, Adele," Lupin calmly told me, suddenly pulling me into a hug.
"If... If... I could have-"
"Adele, there is no past tense now. There is only the present tense, and the future tense. We have the opportunity to change our world. We cannot worry about the past. We can't change it," Remus wisely said. "But we can prevent it from happening again."
"But it will happen again, won't it?" I questioned him, my blonde hair blowing in the sudden gust of wind.
"How?" Lupin asked, his scars from his attack scrunching up on his face as he furrowed his eyebrows.
"I'm a Demigod, Remus. Things are never calm for us," I breezily stated, looking off into the distance.
The dramatic tone of doing that almost made me laugh. I couldn't laugh.
Not when so many innocent people- and a satyr- were dead.
Charon must be having an absolutely wonderful day right now.
I bet Hades is annoyed at the paperwork he has to fill out as well.
