Adele Black: The End

36 Hours

I sat with George on the couch in the living room of the Burrow, my head laying on his lap, his hands playing with my hair.

"I'll miss you a lot," I told him as I touched his cheek with my hand.

"You don't have to go to Camp," he told me, sadly.

I gave him a sad smile, and replied, "I can't stay here all the time with you guys. It's not just dangerous for me, but it's dangerous for you guys as well."

"We can fight with you," George told me as Hermione walked into the room.

"Fight with what?" She interrupted.

"With Adele," George began, "I told her that we'd fight the monsters with her. She can stay here with us and not go back to Camp-"

"And we've discussed this, George," I interrupted him as I sat up on managed to crawl off of the couch and stood up next to Hermione.

"Not really well, if we're still talking about it," George retorted.

Hermione, ever the sensible one, began to speak.

"George, Adele needs to go to Camp. It could be dangerous if she stays here," Hermione bit her lip.

"Thank you," I swiftly told Hermione. "At least someone here has common sense."

"Common sense!? It's common sense for you to stay here with me! I love you, Adele, and I'm not letting you out of my life!" George stood up, his voice getting louder and louder with each word he said.

"I wouldn't be leaving you! I wouldn't be going out of your life! I would be going to Camp!" I argued back.

"Well, you're as good as!" George yelled.

"It's just like you going to work everyday! You leave but come back! I'd be leaving and then coming back at the end of the summer! It's just like when I went to Hogwarts!"

"Except you might not come back," he retaliated.

"I had the possibility of not coming back from Hogwarts in years past. Everybody had that chance!"

"It's safe there! It's safe at Hogwarts!" George argued.

I rolled my gray eyes, "If it really was safe, then why the Hades did Voldemort and his Death Eaters manage to break in!? Why did I have to fill out all that paperwork at Hades' palace!?"

"Because there was a war!" George yelled, his face getting red. "And there's always some sort of war in the demigod world, no matter what!"

"THAT IS JUST HOW IT IS! I AM A CHILD OF ATHENA, AND MONSTERS ARE OUT FOR ME! AND NOT JUST ME! EVERY OTHER OFFSPRING OF THE GODS DEALS WITH IT!" I roared.

"WELL I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU WONT STAY HERE DURING THE SUMMER!" George screamed.

"I HAVE FAMILY AT CAMP! I GREW UP THERE! I AM SAFE THERE! DID YOU NOT SEE ANY SORT OF MONSTERS ATTACK AT HOGWARTS DURING THE BATTLE!?" I raged back.

George, his face more red than Rachel Elizabeth Dare's hair, yelled back, "NO, I DID NOT, BECAUSE I AM NOT PART OF THAT WORLD!"

"AND YOU DON'T WANT TO BE! I DON'T WANT TO BE IN THAT WORLD! NOBODY WANTS TO!"

"THEN DON'T GO!"

"George, I don't think you-" Hermione, who was standing there awkwardly, tried to interrupt.

"-I know perfectly well what you're doing, Adele," George scoffed.

"What am I doing, then?" I asked him, my voice full of anger.

"You're leaving. You're running away from the problems here-"

"Oh, yes," I sarcastically began, "Because there hasn't been any other problems at Camp that are so bad that they need me at the moment!"

George's eyes softened at the comment. "What happened?"

I moved closer to him, all the rage inside of me forgotten.

"Prophecies have been spouting out of Rachel's mouth like crazy," I stated, temporarily forgetting that George had no clue who Rachel was.

"But prophecies can be handled, right?"

"There was one made about who we all suspect to be me, George."

He took my hands in his own and pleaded, "But you don't know if it's about you! Don't go."

I took my hands out of his and rested one of my palms on his cheek, and sadly stated, "Even though there's an extremely small chance that it isn't about me, I need to be there nonetheless."

He twisted his face so I could get my hand off of his cheek.

"Don't expect me to wait for you, then," George stated bluntly, stomping out of the room, leaving me and Hermione to ourselves.

"I always knew he was a dunderhead, but I guess Aphrodite has other plans for me," I grumbled as I turned on my heal and walked the opposite way from where George had walked out, leaving Hermione to herself in the living room.
