Chapter 5: Homework and Football

1 month later

Skilar's POV

Life has been great, except for me not being with Lauren. I've been playing a ton of soccer everyday and I love every bit of it. There's my club team, the high school team, and the US national team has invited me to try out for the under-16 team. Plus, I'm doing well in school, math and science are hard but I'm going to have Lauren tutor me starting next week. On another note, I'm actually still dating Kane. I don't know, there's just something about him that I'm attracted to. Yes, I'm in love with Lauren but she's still with Jason so I don't have any chance with her.

"Hey Ski, you ready to study for chem?" Lauren asked me enthusiastically. We were at my house sitting at the kitchen table. Austin was working and my grandma went out to do some errands. We had been doing homework, which we finished except for chemistry, which I hate. It was Saturday and yes, doing homework on a Saturday sounds weird but Lauren insisted and I just couldn't say no to Lauren.

"No, ugh, I hate chemistry. Mr. Lopez can't teach." I stated as I got my chemistry notebook and textbook out.

"Hey! Ski, be nice." Lauren scolded me. I rolled my eyes but I just admit, she looked adorable when she was kind of mad at me.

"It's true! Well, first off, I shouldn't even be in honors chemistry, I suck at science." I said.

"Okay, well, he is a hard teacher and you're not as bad at science as you think you are." Lauren assured me. I smiled a little, Lauren somehow a always makes me feel a little better about myself.

"Okay... now let's do this." Lauren said as she opened up my textbook. I attentively watched her as she flipped through the textbook trying to find the problems we needed to do. I could watch her all day, the way her beautiful brown eyes were lost in a search and the way she continually tried to push her silky hair out of her face.

"So Skilar, it looks like you had trouble about the electron configurations." Lauren said a she looked at the last quiz I took, amazingly I got a B+ on it.

"Wait, what are those again?" I asked.

"Are you serious?" Lauren asked bluntly.

"I'm clueless...." I said trying to keep a straight face. Lauren gave me that look she always did that made me feel terrible. I then laughed and said, "Okay fine! I know what those are, I'm just messing with you haha."

"Ha ha ha, very funny." Lauren said sarcastically. She then broke out in a smile, her amazing smile that made me go crazy inside, she's so beautiful. It's so hard to be just a friend to Lauren because I always get butterflies whenever I'm around her.

30 minutes later

After Lauren and I finished all of our homework, we raided my fridge. We both are pretty fit and you'd be amazed at how much we eat. Lauren practically lives at my house, she comes over just about every day and my grandma and Austin know her like they've known her forever.

"What's your favorite candy?" I asked her as she took out some leftover pasta. Of course, Lauren the Italian would go for the pasta.

"Probably sour patch kids, I hate dark chocolate." She answered through a mouth full of cold pasta.

"That's mine too, but how do you not like dark chocolate?" I asked her as I took out a huge bag of sour patch kids and took a handful then stuffed it into my mouth.
