Chapter 1: We're Better Together

Skilar's POV

"What do ya wanna do?" Lauren asked as we walked home from school. I had soccer practice and she had chorus so we were actually able to walk home today. It's been a month since we've been together and it is pretty amazing. I just love Lauren so much. Thankfully, summer break is coming in about two weeks.

"We could study and do homework." I replied.

"Woah, did I just hear that correctly? Skilar Johnson wants to... study? This is a first." She said laughing.

"Shut up!" I said, playfully hitting her shoulder.

"Ow!" She said, faking being hurt. She gave me a sad puppy dog face and I just couldn't resist giving her a small kiss on the cheek real quickly.

"Fine, we could go to the beach." I said, beginning to brainstorm ideas.

"Ooo, I like that idea." She said smiling.

"So I'll go get my bathing suit on and I'll meet you at the end of the street." I said as I walked past her house, letting her go in.

"Or I'll just change real quickly then come to your house since you take forever to change." She said.

"Hey!" I said defensively.

"It's true!" She said and I didn't have a comeback because it indeed was true. Then with that, I left her to go change.

I dashed to my house then got in to find it empty, of course, as my brother was at work and grandma was probably volunteering at church or at her sewing club where all of the other elderly ladies go to gossip. Once I had gotten into my room, I put some music on and put the volume up really loud. I started to change out of my sweaty soccer clothes and once I had taken my shirt off, I began searching for my bathing suit.

"You should probably lock your door next time." A very familiar voice shouted over the music and I jumped back startled, I had a shirt cover me in case it was a criminal breaking in, shirts work well for both weapons and a cover up. It was only Lauren, thank God, but she did scare the crap out of me. I looked up and just stared at her, she looked beautiful in her bathing suit, high waisted shorts, and crop top pull over.

"Lauren! Why didn't you knock?!" I asked laughing as I turned the music down on the speakers.

"Like I said, you left the door unlocked." She said giggling.

"You look adorable by the way, your hair up in a bun is so cute- oh and your butt is so cute." I said giggling.

"Do you know how weird that is?" She asked.

"Yeah but it's true-" I was about to say 'my mom' but I don't want to bring her up so said,"My grandma says it."

"Still, you're such a weirdo but I love ya anyways." She said shaking her head and giggling her cute little giggle. I flashed a quick smile back at her then put my shirt into my hamper as I continued to look for my bathing suit.

"Holy shit." She said. I looked up and just stared at Lauren.

"Did Saint Lauren Cimorelli just... curse?" I asked, I could not believe my ears.

"Yes, I did, you have abs." She said staring at them.

"Are you serious? You've never seen abs before?" I asked her rolling my eyes.

"I have, just not yours." She said and I burst out laughing.

"Wow Lauren." I said shaking my head then went to my bathroom and changed real quickly.
