~ same Day~
Kendall held and talked to me for a long period of time. We both were starting to get tired, so we lay down on a blanket and held each other close, and then drifted off to sleep.
~Following day~
I don't know what time it was when I awoke, but Kendall was still asleep. I started to cry to myself and wondering why was I was here. I looked around the room to see if Amanda was back but she sadly was not. I made my choice that I shall never cry till I was free from here. I have to be strong for everyone; there is no more little girl anymore. I looked around the room to see if Amanda was back but she sadly was not. I made my choice that I shall never cry till I was free from here. I have to be strong for everyone; there is no more little girl anymore.
Kendall awoke a short time later and she started to talk to me again. She told me that there was a hole on the other side of the room to relieve yourself in. I thought it was extremely gross but I really had to go. The door opened and a bucket of water was set down with a medium brown paper bag. Kendall got up from where she was sitting to retrieve the bag and the bucket. Then she explained to me that we keep are food and water on the far side of the room. We use two buckets one for drinking water and the other one for other thinks like bathing or washing our clothes in. We put the other bucket at the door and at some point the people will take it Kendall explained. On the rare day we might receive some sort of clothes or a blanket. I took the brown bag and opened it; inside there was a banana, orange, apple and a peach. Kendall told me to only eat a little bit of one thing because this is all we might get in a while.
Kendall told me stories of her family back home. She had a twin named Kimberleigh; they were the oldest children to their parents. I asked if Kimberleigh was at the park when she and Amanda were taken. She smiled and told me know, Kimberleigh was out with their dad. In Kendall's family there was her mom Ana, her dad Ken and her four siblings Kimberleigh, Colin, Jacob and at the time baby Liah. I told Kendall about my family and their names are Karin who is my mom, Liam who is my dad and my brother Ryan. She laughed and said that it would be cool to have an older brother. Then Kendall told me that Amanda had a baby sister named Stacey-Lyn. I laughed at that because that was going to be my name, but my dad wanted Stacey Anne. In the end my dad had won and my name became Stacey Anne, though he only ever called me Stac.
After Kendall got up and asked me to help her clean the blankets, so I did. I asked her if we ever cleaned our clothes, she replied that we will do it tomorrow when the blankets are dry. Kendall was amazing she really helped me to try and not to worry about my life now... she gives me hope to stay strong.
We never talked about the other girls or what we thought may happen. Through we both wondered if we will ever see our families or Amanda again. I put the bucket in front of the door where Kendall instructed me to. Then she said that she was going to call me S from now on; I told her I am going to call her Ken then.
After a while Ken fell asleep and I felt like I was kind of scared and weak when she was not awake. I thought about my parents and my brother, I wondered what they are doing right now and if they are looking for me. I know I haven’t prayed in a long time through my granddaddy said I need to do it every day, so I bowed my head and I prayed for the first time in a long time.
