chapter 37

 ~Following day~

"Corbett may you please take these things to Vala. Yes sir. Thank you Corbett. Oh before i forget. I want time today with Bell, so will you please take your daughter from Bell. Yes of course sir. Good; now go."

Corbett's POV:

I walk through the long hallways and think to myself, what if i was Vala's parents? I could not bare  to lose Isla, she really is my everything. I was given this life, I did not bargain for it. I don't know anything else, but i will promise to protect my daughter any means necessary. My wish is to be able to leave this life behind and start with a fresh start. All i know about my family is that my mother was a once upon time lover with Kirk, who is Desmond's father. My mother gave me to Desmond's father when i was eight or nine. My mother could not raise me. My mother was twenty years old when she started to play around with Kirk. He already had Desmond who was fourteen. Then when Desmond was twenty -one I came along. Desmond treated me as a younger brother until he got married to Karleigh. After that he got power and finally when his father was killed, he took over this place and this lifestyle. Damon and Seth are his favorite men and he treats them with full honors. Thought they call him sir they are the only one that can call him Desmond.

Once I got to the door I put in the code and went in. I made sure the other door was shut before I pressed the button to open the gate to the other room, which held Vala. I took a look at her and saw a little girl that has had no life. She has had to grow up way to fast and she is about to grow up even more. Vala is one strong young lady and I feel extraordinary sorrow for her, but there is nothing I can do for her. I put the water and the food down and backed out of the room. I shut the gate and started to open the door when I heard her say "Thank you."

I could not believe that she said thank you to me because I know I only did what I was asked too. But then I came to my senses and thought she probably hasn't had much to eat or anything lately because of everything that has been going on.
