1. Reading the Signs of the Times
Could so many things be happening at the same time in Nigeria without significance to the destiny of the nation? Does the coincidence of so many events in the Kingdom of God, in the kingdom of darkness, and in the natural realm of the social and political events of Nigerians say anything to anyone about how auspicious this season could be? Need we the ancient sons of Issachar with understanding of the times to read us the signs and tell us what we ought to do (1 Chronicles 12:32)?
A couple of weeks before Christmas, it was the nationwide industrial strike of university lecturers in Nigeria, then followed the ominous spate of yuletide terrorist threats from Boko Haram the Islamic insurgent jihadist movement in Nigeria, especially their brazen bombardment and martyrdom of innocent worshippers on Christmas day. A few days later, the New Year came with the removal of oil subsidy, then the tacit declaration of secession in the Boko Haram call for all northerners/Muslims in the south to get back north, and their three-day ultimatum for all southerners/Christians to leave the north. Significant movements have already begun to be noticed of Muslims leaving southern Nigeria cities in trucks. Looming from Monday, January 9, 2012, is the unpredictable full scale industrial strike of all labour unions, which the labour leader, Abdulwahed Omar, has called in the wake of the removal of government subsidy on petroleum. Behind much of this lies the same mysterious Spirit-of-Sudan agenda that wears the more political face of Boko Haram. Today, Friday, January 5, 2012, security chiefs of the nation have been called to an emergency meeting in Abuja the Federal capital, and the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has also called a nation-wide prayer and fasting on the theme of Psalm 7:9: “Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just….” In this same season did God send the clear warning, which many of you have prayerfully helped to spread, on “The Spirit of Sudan.” Could so much have been happening all at the same time without meaning to the destiny of Nigeria? May those that have understanding of the times tell us. One respondent to “The Spirit of Sudan” wrote from the United States of America to say that there’s more than meets the eyes in the Boko Haram uprising.
Some of the other responses might also be useful. They are an encouraging crumb to the fact that God’s people are responding favourably to the timely word on the Spirit of Sudan. Again, we give thanks to God for everyone who has since taken a position to stand in the gap for the land, “for such a time as this” (Ezekiel 22:30; Esther 4:14).
2. Responses from Around the Globe
Many thanks, dear Preacher, for this piece on “The Spirit of Sudan.” When I got the message in Black Berry alert, I quickly showed it to my wife and we agreed that it is one of the most profound prophetic messages I have heard in recent times. We have since shared it with key leaders of Intercessors for Nigeria, and have been praying about it.
Pst Vincent, Enugu, Nigeria.
Thank you for these write ups. We have tried to work behind the scenes and at least a fast has been called from sun up to sun down, Friday 6th January, for all of Nigeria, by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). Psalm 7:9 is the agreed verse.
Lawon.
Thanks for the latest update. Blessed be the Lord for the visions of encouragement in prayer. I received “The Spirit of Sudan” from two friends in Nigeria, apart from the one received directly from you. While I prayed, I saw a bank. I think it indicates that Nigeria is secured as we prayed. Thanks for your service unto the Lord as a Watchman!
