**** Brittany and Tina stood at the baggage claim. Tina couldn't hide the grin. "I haven't seen your family in a long time. Oh, that reminds me. How are your niece and nephew doing? Umm, Michael, and Corinne, right."
Before Brittany could answer they heard a deep male voice answer for her. "My son and daughter are doin' just fine thanks."
Both girls turned around to find Kyle, and his very pregnant wife Charity. Gabriel who had met the family at the front entrence smiled at Brittany as she dropped her bag and ran to her older brother.
"Kyle, you jerk!" She cried and through her arms around his neck, and her legs around his waist. Forcing the Sheriff to hold her all the tighter.
The Sheriff laughed and lifted her high off the floor. "Hey, kiddo! Umm, are you gonna keep hangin' on me like a koala?"
Brittany who had buried her face into her brother's neck said nothing. Instead she nodded.
Oh, well... You've put on some wieght so..."
Tina covered her mouth to keep from laughing aloud. However, when Brittany kicked her brother's prosthetic leg and he pretended to hop around in pain, "You brutal, cruel woman!" He jokingly said.
Tina did laugh then. When she caught sight of the Agent however she couldn't help but like him all the more.
Gabriel was down on one knee talking with Kyle's kids. Three year old Corinne sat on his knee, while eight year old Michael showed off his new toy FBI badge. Brittany turned from her brother to hug Charity.
"How is my favorite sister-in-law, and how are those babies?"
The red head smiled, "I'm your only sister in law and the boys are fine. Carlyn wanted to come, but your dad has her under lock and key."
Brittany nodded as she pulled away, "I'm not surprised. Gabriel said that there was a note as well?" She turned back to her brother.
The answer however came from behind them, "Yes. A threat against you, and Brick."
Tina and Brittany both turned to see the large Deputy standing there in full uniform. Tina felt the zap the moment her eyes met his. 'Wow. He's gorgeous.'
She couldn't help but give this man a very thorough once over. He was tall, at least 6'3". Broad shoulders, deep chest, long blank hair tied in a tight braid down his back. He had to be part Native American, but... There was something else in his heritage.
"See somethin' you like, dalin'?" He asked.
Gabriel turned from the kids to watch the fire works he knew was about to happen. Brittany leaned against him and whispered. "I guess I should have warned her about the local womanizer."
He grinned, "No. It's more fun this way."
The little blonde punched him in the side, and laughed. "So says the MIA boyfriend."
The Russian looked down at her, "You knew what you were getting into when you agreed to go out with me that first night."
She smiled and turned to watch her best friend fight the inevitable attraction to the Deputy.
Tina took a step back and shook her head, "No. Not at all. I mean... well... you have a nice chest. Wait no... I mean, you are nice to look at. No, that's not what I meant. I was just wondering as to your Nationality. That's all." Tina was sure she was flushing all over now. 'How humiliating.' She thought.
The face blank, he crossed his powerful arms, "Oh, is that all." He nodded and Brittany, "How ya doin', Tany? My uncle said to tell ya howdy."
Brittany grinned, "Howdy backHow is Bear doing?"
He shrugged, "He's good. Had to have another surgery on that leg, but other than that he's still in one piece."
Tina turned a questioning look to her friend. Brittany laughed as she hugged her little niece. "Tina, meet Cheif Deputy Truman White-Wolf Huntsman. True Wolf, this is my partner Detective Tina May Jones. Be nice to her. She's little but she can throw you across the room."
True Wolf simply lifted a brow, "No worries. Besides, she's not really my type."
Brittany covered her mouth to keep from laughing. 'Oh, no he didn't.'
Gabriel wrapped an arm around Brittany's shoulders and chuckled, "What did I tell ya?"
Tina who had been bent over to retrieve her bags stopped and slowly stood, her back rigid. "What did you just say?"
She ever so slowly turned to face the offensive man.
True Wolf met her gaze unflinchingly. Her beautiful brown eyes were alive with fire. No wonder she and Brittany go on so well. They were born of the same flame. 'Hmmmm. This might just be worth the hunt.'
He let her see his smile, "You asked about my Nationality. Right?"
Tina's anger lifted to be replaced by confusion. "What?"
True chuckled, 'Oh, this is too easy. Sudden change in subject and she loses track.' "My Nationalitly. I'm American. My father is African American, and my mother is Native American. Cheyenne to be exact. She was the last Sheriff."
Tina's went wide, "You mean Koni?"
He nodded, "That's her. My dad is a former Navy SEAL. He goes by Mouse. But, don't let his handle fool ya. He's almost as big as secret agent man over there." He pointed with his chin to Gabriel.
The Agent let the irritation show, "I told you not to call me that."
Brittany elbowed the huge man beside her. "Babe, not here. We're still in the airport."
Kyle watched his little sister take his old friend in hand. Gabriel was a tough man. With horrors in his past that even Kyle didn't want to know about. Yet, here he was, soothed by a little blonde beauty. 'Brittany may be tiny, but she's mighty.'
Gabriel glared down at the at the little blonde, "I'm not the one who...."
Brittany waggled a finger in his face, "I don't want to hear it. You alway tell me not to let my emotions cloud my judgement."
Gabriel studied her for a long minute. "Using my own words against me? Ooooh, that's a low blow... totally unfair."
Brittany grinned, "You love me any way."
The big man chuckled, "If that's what you believe."
Kyle and Charity both grinned. "I thought I'd see a ring on her finger by now."
Kyle nodded, "So did I. I have a feeling that Brick wants to wait until they have this stalker problem taken care of."
The former mobster cast his best friend a hard stare, "You say something, KB?"
Kyle grinned, "No. Not really. Just admiring how my pretty little sister has you firmly in hand."
Gabriel turned to face his old friend, "Say that again."
Tina and Brittany smiled at each other. Before Kyle could add to his former statement, Brittany slipped her hand into one of the back pockets of the Agent's jeans. Tina grinned at the way the huge man stiffened up and turned to face Brittany. The love that lit that violet eye, warmed Tina's heart. Gabriel obviously loved Brittany.
She just smiled sweetly up at the Agent, "I don't know about you, baby. But, I would like to go home and see my family. You know how my mother feels about violence. What do you think she'll do when I tell her you want to beat up her son?"
Gabriel lifted a brow to study her a moment longer, "You have got to be kidding me."
Brittany grinned, "Nope. Not one little bit."
Gabe tuned to look at Kyle who was clearly enjoying the scene. Brittany pulled on the huge man's pocket one more time. When his eyes met her's. "Take me home, honey."
Gabriel seemed to relax and nodded, "I'll drive."
Kyle and Charity looked at each other in disbelief. Did she just talk the big man down with a few flirty words?
