"NOOOO!" Miracle wakes up to a scene of an accident. Only it wasn't the one she remembers just before blacking out. She's back to where she started. It happened again. She must have died in that other reality. It's so unfair, for once in her life someone actually cares for her, just like she cares for them and once more the dream is taken away.
She can't take it anymore. When the E.M.T.'s can't get her to calm down they inject her with something that knocks her out once more. Before she blacks out she looks at their faces, none of them are Grey.
She wakes up in a hospital. When the nurses realize that she's awake they notify her doctor. He comes to talk to her. "Mirand-" the doctor starts but she cuts him off
"Where's Grey?" She has to know if Grey made it, maybe she hasn't left that other reality.
The doctor looks at her with concern. "Who's Grey?"
"The man that was driving the car that I was in." Miranda gives him a look of incredulity.
"Miss, Miranda, you weren't in the car. You were the unfortunate pedestrian that was hit when the car went out of control after being hit by a drunk driver. All others injured in that accident are fine or at least stable, but none of them are named Grey." The doctor says calmly.
That's all Miranda needed to hear. Another damn reality, it wasn't fair she wanted to stay in that last one. She wanted to be with Grey. The doctor hadn't noticed her zoning out until she fails to respond to his questions.
Miranda doesn't see the need to reply. In time the doctor leaves. But not long after another person comes in. He too tries talking to her and she refuses to answer him. She didn't even get this ones name.
Day after day this continues, she refuses to speak to anyone. She refuses to eat.
When she gets pressed by the medical staff, they finally get a reaction, she throws her tray and everything else on the table onto the floor.
Dying is the ultimate way of leaving the hospital, so she'll just do what she did when she woke up in that first reality. Only this time she'll never meet Grey.
She is removed from the regular hospital ward and is committed to a mental ward. She sniffs to herself. She knew it would be just a matter of time. Really Grey should have had her committed in that last reality, but somehow he'd believed her.
Just thinking about Grey is enough to start the tears again.
"Miranda?" a voice asks softly from the doorway after a knock. She had learned that the only ones that knock on her door are the doctors, interns, and nurses. The other residents don't bother visiting. Most are too lost in their own minds to notice much around them.
Miranda never answers the knocks.
"Miranda? Are you ready to start to become part of the world again?" the doctor that had first come to her or rather the one her medical doctor had sent to her at the hospital asks gently. She still hasn't gotten his name and doesn't care.
"Miranda, won't you at least look at me?" Miranda is already angry at them. They are force feeding her and not letting her die the way she wants too.
The doctor sighs. He's done all he can to keep her alive, getting the court orders to force medicine and food, but he can't force her to speak and he doesn't want to force her to look at him.
Miranda just keeps staring out the window, not really seeing it, just remembering Grey and the time she had had with him.
The doctor sighs once more and is about to get up when he notices the tears starting to fall from Miranda's eyes. "Won't you tell me why you are crying Miranda? Are you in pain? If so I can get you some pain medicine."
