“Hey baby,” I said as I entered Andre’s room. His dad had let me into their house. “Hi Pierce,” he said with a smile. He kissed me deeply and I smiled at him. We laid on his bed together and he gently ran his hand through my hair.
“What’s your natural hair color?” he asked as I wrapped my arm around him and pulled him close to me. “Brown,” I said and kissed his forehead. “Like your dad’s color?” he asked curiously and I shrugged. “Kind of. About two shades lighter. I have my, uh, mom’s hair color,” I said nervously. I hated talking about my mom.
He looked deeply into my eyes. “Pierce, what did she do to you?” he asked me gently and I felt my eyes water. I sniffed and laughed shakily. “Heh, look at me being weak.” He kissed me and rested his head on my chest. “You can tell me,” he said quietly.
I played with my lip ring nervously. “She, ah, she wasn’t always abusive. She loved me, for a few years. But when I was about 5 she, uh, started drinking. When she got drunk, she lost herself. She started hitting me. It took my dad a few months to notice, but when he did, they started fighting. It got bad. She would starve me, and beat me if she found out I was sneaking food at school. She always reminded me how much she hated me.
“My dad finally divorced her when I was 9, after he caught her trying to break my arm. He got full custody of me. But she promised both of us that she would get me back and when she did, she would put me through more hell than I could ever imagine. She hated me with a passion, because she loved alcohol.”
I sniffed again and uttered another shaky laugh as I felt a tear crawling down my face. “I was her disappointment. That’s what she said. Just a fuck up.”
Andre wiped my tear away and I kissed him. “I, uh, I don’t tell people that. Owen’s the only other person who knows the full story. My friends Max and Noah just know how my mom was when my dad divorced her. She’s been trying to get me back by claiming my dad’s too irresponsible to raise me. So I have to be careful not to get in trouble with the cops at parties or anything.”
I sighed sadly and kissed Andre again. “Please, can we talk about something else?” My mom was my weak point. Really, it was the only thing that made me cry. Memories of my mom. Of how we used to be, when she had loved me so deeply, and then once she had begun drinking.
“Hey Pierce?” “Yea Andre?” “What did the blanket say when it fell off the bed?” “What, Andre?” “Oh Sheet!” I rolled my eyes and hugged him too me. “Oh Andre. I love you.”
He smiled softly and kissed my cheek. “Pierce Harts, I love you so much,” he whispered and smiled wider. I kissed him deeply and slipped my tongue into his mouth. I gently massaged his tongue as my hands traveled up his shirt.
“My…dad…” he whispered as I began to massage his nipples. “Can go get fucked,” I said and brought my mouth back to his. I pulled his shirt off and glanced over to make sure his door was locked.
I reached for his pants and felt him pressing on my chest. “Pierce,” he mumbled. I unzipped his pants and hissed in pain as he nailed me in the chest.
I sat up and rubbed where he had hit me. He zipped his pants back up and looked away from me in silent shame. I wrapped my arm around him and pulled him to me.
“Hey, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to…it won’t happen again. I promise. I’m really sorry Andre. That was stupid of me,” I whispered. Oh please, please, please don’t let him be mad at me for trying to take it farther than he wanted to go.
“I’m sorry I punched you,” he mumbled and I kissed his cheek. “I deserved it. I was being a dick. But, hey, you’re pretty tough. And yet you still let people fuck with you…”
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair before pulling his shirt back on. “I know. It’s not the strength that’s a problem. It’s the guilt. I hate feeling guilty when I do something wrong. I would feel guilty if I hurt anyone.”
Oh kid, don’t I know it.
I kissed him gently. “Hey, you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do, right? If the time calls for it, you can take those fuckers down. Hell Andre, I think you have it in you to take anyone down.” I kissed him again and he smiled softly.
“Pierce, you weren’t a virgin when we started dating.” I nodded, even though it was a statement, not a question. Andre bit his lip. “How old were you when you lost your virginity?” I sighed and kissed him again.
“I was 13, and stupid as hell.” “And you’ve had sex with other people besides me since then?” I nodded slowly. “Have you…slept with anyone while we were dating? I…I won’t be mad. I just want to know,” he whispered.
Of course he wouldn’t be mad. He’d be destroyed. I could see the pain even thinking it was causing him. If I confirmed it, it would shatter him from the inside out. And I just couldn’t do that to him.
“No,” I lied and stroked his cheek gently. “I love you, and only you.” There, that part was true. That part was far beyond true. Andre smiled up at me lovingly and slowly pressed his lips to mine. I wrapped my arms around him and rocked there, our lips pressed together in nothing more than a gentle kiss. But secrets didn’t always stay secret, and, had I known what was going to happen next, I would’ve fessed right up when he had asked that time.
