"sometimes using someone is the only way to feel again."

Wes and Audrey spent more time together, each day more eventful than the last. They went to the movies one day, the arcade the next, and anywhere else they could find an adventure.

Wes was starting to like Audrey, but only a little. Audrey on the other hand, was falling in love with the boy. She didn't know she was merely a distraction, and if she did she didn't really care.

Meanwhile, Vanessa and Dakota were on their final straw it seemed. They spent less and less time together, Vanessa taking hours to reply to any of his texts. Eventually, he did go to her house. Their argument this time was way worse than any other.

"You always blow me off to go talk on the phone! And while you're on the phone, you always leave the room where I'm in! Are you hiding something?" She yelled at him, clearly hurt by this thought. Dakota didn't seem to care.

"No, I'm not. I'm not cheating. Just chill out. It's not a big deal." She felt hot tears stream down her face, and she bit her lip to keep from sobbing.

"Not a big deal?! You're literally breaking my heart and it's not a big deal?!" She felt as if she was being shot in the chest, and she didn't have anyone to turn to. Dakota was the one behind the trigger, and she threw away all her friends.

"Nobody told you to fall in love with me! Maybe you're just as naive as Orion said!" He elevated his voice, but soon he wished he never even uttered a word.

"Orion? What? What does Orion have to do with anything? You told me you couldn't stand her for what she did to me. You've been talking to her, and she called me naive?" Her tone went from anger to confusion. Why would Dakota need to talk to Orion?

"Nothing, look baby I–" she cut him off by grabbing his phone off of the table, going into her room and locking the door.

She sighed, feeling more tears come out of her eyes as she got tape and put it over his fingerprint scanner. She put her finger over the button, unlocking the phone and going to his messages with his 'grandma'.

How is the plan going? Is she believing you? What do you have on her?

She tells me all her secrets, there's so much to say. Call me babe

Okay, talk to you in a few

She stared at the texts for what seemed like hours before realizing that he was cheating. She knew who he was cheating with, but she willed herself not to believe it. She couldn't have cut off Wes for a liar; she wouldn't be that stupid, would she? Dakota kept banging on her bedroom door, calling her name as she sat there helpless on the other side.

She bit her lip, sighing deeply as she dialed numbers into her dial pad. She bounced around as it rang, praying that he would pick up the phone.

"Hello?" A male voice said, and she sighed in relief.

"Hello, Wes. Please come to my house, I found out you were right about Dakota. I'm locked in my room, just please come save me." She begged, her crying evident through the phone receiver.

Wes didn't even have to ponder it. No matter what Vanessa had done to him, that was his best friend. That was the love of his life. He couldn't leave her hanging while a boy that couldn't be trusted was there.

He looked over in his bed, next to him lay a sleeping Audrey. He crept out of bed, getting up and sprinting to his car. He texted Audrey telling her to make herself at home and he would be back, although he didn't know what to expect.

When Wes finally pulled up into Vanessa's driveway, he wasted no time hopping out of the car and going into the house. He stayed fairly quiet, not wanting Dakota to hear him. He could hear the two down the hall, and it sounded as if Dakota was still pounding on the door. He didn't know that Vanessa had found even more than just the messages. She found the notes, the voice recordings of their private conversations, and pictures she sent him. She found everything, and everything was going to be sent to Orion. She felt humiliated, and even more violated.

Wes slowly came up behind Dakota, making it close enough to grab his shirt and push him against the closed door.

"What the fuck are you doing, man?" A struggling Dakota asked, trying to move out of Wes's grip.

"You think I'm gonna stand around and let you hurt my best fucking friend? I know what you've been doing all this time, and you won't do it anymore." Wes said all of that through gritted teeth, desperately fighting the urge to punch him.

"Well, what's done is done. She can't do anything about it now." He said with a hint of a smirk on his voice, and Wes couldn't fight his impulses any longer. He took his right arm and socked him in the eye, causing Dakota to hold his face in pain.

"You can't get away with that shit. You, or Orion." He said, kicking him in the stomach and calling the police immediately. Dakota laid on the floor, and Wes held him there until the police showed.

When the police arrive, Wes let Vanessa explain to them what was happening, using his phone as evidence. This was seen as a breach of privacy and they took Dakota to the police station soon after.

Once the police sped off, Wes looked over to Ness who was staring at the ground.

"I'm sorry Wes, I just really wanted him to be different. I wanted him to not be like the rest of them. He acted like he wasn't." She trailed off, sighing. Wes sighed too, because he understood. He couldn't stay mad at her for long.

"I get it, it's easier to hope for the best so that you don't have to acknowledge the worst." He bit his lip.

"Can you ever forgive me?" She looked up at him.

"I already forgive you." He sighed to himself, holding her hand before pulling her into a hug.

"So we're still best friends?" She questioned.

"Always."
