just because you didn't mean to do it doesn't mean it was a mistake.
Ness couldn't believe what she'd done. Once Cody and her kissed though, she couldn't stop herself. She kissed him time and time again, and he eventually stopped her.
"You don't want to do this; you're upset and I don't want to take advantage of you." He said quietly, sitting up. "I can't do that to you."
"No, I really want this. Cody, I need a distraction. I want to do this." She pleaded, but Cody knew better. Cody knew how much she loved Wes, and he refused to let her throw that away.
"No, I'll leave you alone and sleep on the couch. I don't want you to think I want anything from you." He stood, and she grabbed his arm with whatever strength she had left.
"No. We don't have to do anything, but please don't leave me alone." With that, he sighed and plopped on the bed.
"Fine, talk to me Ness. Why did you try and give your virginity to me? I don't deserve it. Sure, we–" she cut him off by leaning her head on him.
"I know, I know. It's just, you're being so nice. And you know, I just want to stop thinking about Wes. Everything I do, I think about him. I know it has only been a couple hours since he went into the hospital but it hurts so much." She rambled, Cody putting an arm around her to try and comfort her.
"I know, but doing this will not help you feel better. You'll feel worse once he c–" She kissed him, cutting off his sentence. She didn't want to hear Cody talk about regrets, because right then, she didn't think she would ever have any regrets. She just didn't want to feel pain.
"Just do it, you know you want to. Please? It would make me happy." She looked him in the eyes intensely, straddling his hips and running a hand along his chest.
"O–okay." He whispered, and before she knew it, she was doing something she knew she shouldn't with someone she really didn't want to.
The next morning, she found herself waking up next to Cody with the headache of a lifetime. She somewhat remembered the corse of events of last night, and she recalled her and Cody had sex, which didn't disgust her as much as she thought it would.
She sat up, looking over at a sleeping Cody before kissing his forehead. She was so happy he had been there for her the night before, but she felt bad for what they had done.
She knew she only did it to stop thinking of Wes, but it only made her think of him more. How could she tell him? Would she even tell him?
She didn't even think of that; they usually told each other everything. She shook Cody awake and asked if he would take her to the hospital. After he quickly got freshened up, he took her out to his car and they started on the road to the hospital.
"Are you okay?" He asked quietly, his eyes not even wandering away from the road.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" She looked at him in confusion before realizing, "Oh, yeah I'm fine Cody. I wish we hadn't of, but I don't regret it. I enjoyed it." She bit her lip slightly, causing the boy to blush.
Once they pulled into the parking lot of the hospital, Cody took her arm as they walked inside; he wanted to comfort her as much as possible.
When they finally made it to the floor Wes was on, she approached the nurse slowly.
"H–has he woken up?" She whispered, her voice breaking slightly. The nurse looked at the ground.
"No, I'm sorry. But you can still go in and speak to him. It increases possibility of him waking up sooner." Vanessa nodded and walked into the room with him, Cody standing just outside the door.
"Hey Wes, I miss you. It's only been about 12 hours, but I can't do this much longer. You're missing stuff, and I don't want to go through stuff without you. Please wake up, for your best friend, for your baby girl, for me." She whispered the last part, running her hand up and down his arm slowly.
She kissed his cheek lightly before walking out of the room, tears filling her eyes as she hugged Cody. She stood outside of the door as he went in, leaning against the wall.
"Hey, Wes." He said, more to himself than to Wes.
"I miss you so much. Dude, you won't believe what happened. I gotta tell you everything when you wake up." He laughed quietly, feeling hot tears well up in his eyes.
"P–please wake up, Wes. You're missing too much, man." He choked up, biting his lip before exiting the room and taking Vanessa down the hallway. The pair was basically inseparable until Wes woke up, and even though they both knew it was temporary, neither of them seemed to care. They just needed comfort.
Once they made it back to Cody's house, he gave Vanessa a big T-shirt and basketball shorts to put on, and once she did, they laid on his bed and watched some comedy movie Cody put on.
"Cody, do you think he's gonna wake up?" She asked him, looking at the ceiling and sighing.
"Hey, you know he's gonna wake up. Wes is a fighter, he always has been. We're all gonna get through this, okay? Don't doubt that he's gonna wake up, because I promise he will." He assured her, running his hand through his hair softly.
He did that until she fell asleep, and even after until he fell asleep. Vanessa wasn't in the best place, but she was so glad to have Cody. To her, nothing could go more wrong than Wes in the hospital. All she would do was wait until he woke up, and everything would be back to normal.
At least that's what she thought.
