*Two Hours Later*

"Well is he gonna be okay?" The doctor nodded. "Just fine. He'll just have to come back in a couple weeks, get his stitches taken out, and try to avoid as much light as possible for the next few weeks while his concussion goes away, but other than that, he should be fine." I nodded. "Thank you doctor." He nodded back. "Sure. You're free to go!"

"Ready," I asked Toby with a little chuckle. He sat up. "It's not funny." You see, Toby was so excited I was coming home with him that on the way out of the airport, he fell down the escalator. Nothing was broken, but he smacked his head off of steps and cut open his lip and the side of his head. I felt really bad but I admit, it was a little funny. When we got into the car, he faced me and I took off the keys from around his neck. I kissed the side of his head that had no stitches and chuckled a little. "Oh no," he said kind-of funny, "we can't kiss because of my lip." I laughed. "Don't worry cutie, we'll do plenty of that as soon as it clears up, I promise!" He smiled and started to drool a little. The medicine for his head was making him sort-of loopy. He groaned. "Your dad know you're not coming home yet?" "Yeah, why?" "I don't like him, especially because of Christmas." Instead of replying, I just sat there and thought. What about Christmas? I couldn't think of anything but him not calling on Christmas Eve. He was working though and he called and told me that on Christmas. Nothing was wrong with that... What was Toby talking about?

When we got home, the family was waiting for us at the McDonough's. Joan came running. "My poor baby! Are you okay?!" "Just fine mom! I can't feel a thing," he said looking up at the ceiling. "Let's get you to bed," she giggled out. "Oooooooooookay." "Nice to have you back Emily," she whispered smiling at me. I smiled back. Everyone except Connor gave me a hug. "Wa-wait! Let me get this straight - Toby fell down an escalator?!" He broke down laughing even more. I started laughing too. The boys and I stood there cracking up and talking for another 10 minutes while my family made their way back to my house. I told them I'd meet them there later tonight.

"But seriously Em, I'm glad you're back." I nodded towards Ri. "Yeah, me too." "What did you tell your dad... Everyone?" "Well, I told them that I couldn't leave but I'd be back soon to visit and well, Jason told me they caught the people how killed Victor." "Who was it?!" "Uh, it was actually an old girlfriend of his and an old friend of mine. Her name was Kenzi. Someone hired her to do it but they don't know who it was yet or why." Riley sighed. "Oh..." "Yeah..." There was an awkward silence for a few minutes but then Joan came down.

"Okay, Toby is in bed sound asleep. You better be up there when he wakes up Emily, he just thought I was you," she said while raising a eyebrow. Oh god. I was gonna ask what he said, but I knew better just to not. "You think he'll feel better when he wakes up?" She nodded. "I do, and definitely not so loopy." I chuckled. "So what are your plans for tonight?" By now, the boys had left the room to go play a game of COD. "Mark and I were supposed to go out for our anniversary tomorrow, but we're gonna stay home and look after Toby." My head immediately snapped towards her. "Oh no, no. You go. I'll handle Toby. You deserve a little fun!" "Oh Emily, I can't." "Yes, you can!" I went over and helped her take her apron and over-mitts off. "And I'm gonna help you get ready." Before she could say a word, I took her hand and ran with her upstairs.

*45 Minutes Later*

"Andddddddd done," I said as I added the last touch of blush to her soft cheeks. She turned around and looked at herself in the mirror. She smiled softly and touched her perfectly straightened hair. "Wow Emily... Thank you." She did look stunning. She had dark skinny jeans on with black boot high-heals. On the top, she wore a plain black blouse and sliver jewelry. Her makeup was done lightly and her hair had a very smooth look to it like always. I couldn't help to think that one day, I would have the honor to officially be part of her family. She, one day, could be my children's grandma and my mom. It gave me chills. I've been with Toby for almost a year now and my relationship with her has done nothing but become stronger. I hugged her. "No problem Momma Joan." She chuckled and went downstairs to greet Mark who looked great too. Then, they walked out of the house looking at each other like it was the first time they had met. I smiled at the thought of Toby and I being like that one day.
