Alan's POV
I let out a sigh as I looked up at Matt who was pacing around his room. I'd only been here for three days but I've been out of my house for much longer than that.
"Are you gonna talk to me or not?" I asked him. "I'll leave if you want me to Matt."
"Hush, I'm irritated with you," he said, holding a finger out.
"What did I do wrong?"
"You ran away from home! What the hell Alan? Why would you even do that!? You realize I could go to jail for letting you stay here don't you!?"
"But you won't go to jail! Matt I can't be there anymore. All they do is argue and I can't talk it anymore."
"Harboring a runaway is illegal! If the cops find you here, then yeah, I'll go to jail. And parents fight, that's what they do! It'll get better."
"Well no one knows I'm here anyway, okay? Matt just calm down, it's gonna be fine."
"Haven't they like, argued your whole life?"
"No... They used to be happy but now it's falling apart." I said sniffling a little.
Matt sighed. "I'm sorry dude. Maybe it's just a rough patch or something."
"A rough patch doesn't last for this long."
"Why don't they just get a divorce then?" He asked, sitting down next to me.
"I don't want them to do that." I said looking over at him. "They're supposed to be in love."
"Sometimes love fades."
"But it's supposed to be forever."
"Not always."
I shook my head, "I should go, make sure you don't get in trouble or something."
"No, I'd rather you stay here then go out and do something stupid."
"I'm not gonna do anything stupid. I haven't now."
"I'd still rather you stay here. Or go home."
"I'm not going home. I can't."
"Why? Because they're arguing?"
"That's all they do. That's all I hear and see when I'm there."
"Talk to them about it."
"I don't wanna be there."
Matt sighed and said nothing else about it.
"You're disappointed." I said softly.
"No, no I'm not."
"Yes you are."
"I'm not, really," he said, giving me a small smile.
"Then what are you?"
"Just, worried."
I sighed and leaned my head on his shoulder. "Sorry."
"It's okay," he said, wrapping his arm around me.
I laid back on his bed, "Don't make me go home yet."
"I won't, I won't."
I smiled and pulled him down beside me.
"Do you think you're ever going home?"
"Can we stop talking about home, please? Can't we like make out or play a videogame?" I asked.
