Alans POV

I went to my room as soon as we got to Papa's apartment. There wasn't much I felt like doing so I just went to bed, trying not to think of what tomorrow was going to bring.

The morning after I had school, so I'd woken up and gotten ready eventually waiting for Papa to come out of his room to bring me. It was weird being the only one awake right now because usually he was up already awake but he never came. That's when I realized it was 3am and not 7am. I groaned and fell back onto my bed.

There was no way I was going back to sleep anytime soon, so I got up and went to the kitchen. I grabbed a bowl making myself some cereal. Maybe if I had some food in me I could possibly, hopefully fall asleep. Knowing my luck I wasn't gonna get anymore sleep but it couldn't hurt to try. After making my cereal, I sat at the crappy little table that my dad had bought to make the place seem more "homey" as he said and took a bite.

I sat there in the dim lit room watching absolutely nothing.

"Why are you up?" Someone asked, walking into the room.

I jumped from my seat and looked over at the doorway. I swallowed hard and saw Austin standing there.

"It's three in the morning," he yawned. "Get some sleep."

"I thought it was seven so I got up and now I can't sleep."

"Dumb. Why didn't you just check your phone?" He asked and took a seat next to me.

I shrugged, "I just assumed."

Austin laughed lowly. "Nerd."

I rolled my eyes and kept from smiling.

"There's this thing called alarms, you know," he said, bumping his shoulder against mine.

"I know, but my parents usually would wake me up or like I'd wake up on my own."

Austin laughed. "Well, I'd say your dad probably would wake you up but he's still not home."

"He's not? I guess I'll have to take the bus to school today."

"I can take you," he offered. "He left to talk to your mom and I haven't seen him since."

"I can take the bus it's fine. They're probably banging again."

"Probably," Austin admitted. "But I can still take you."

"It's fine."

"You sure?" He asked. "Do you even know where the closest bus stop is from here?"

"Yeah I do." I lied.

"Liar."

"I'm not lying."

"I know when you're lying."

"Nope you don't. I'm not lying."

"Whatever."

I rolled my eyes. "Why are you awake?"

"Couldn't sleep you bro- ya know."

"Oh."

"Yeah." He said awkwardly.

"Sorry," I mumbled, looking down at my hands.

"It's fine. I should probably try and get some more sleep."

"It's not fine but you probably should."

"Don't worry about it." He said and got up, "I love- Goodnight."

"Goodnight Austin."

Austin sighed and hurried to his room without another word.

I pushed my food away and held my head in my hands. I felt terrible about what I did to Austin and know I was causing him not to sleep. But now I just didn't know what to do. I wanted to talk to him but I was torn. I could get back with him but maybe I should just take a step back and focus on school. Besides, I wanted to make my mom happy and he wasn't happy about me being with Austin.
