                                                                                   Chapter 9

"Dying is easy, it's living that scares me to death." -                                                                                                                               Annie Lennox

"Here you go. It got a little battered with the whole tornado thing." "Ry, it was battered to begin with. Now, this book is really weird so... you might wanna step back." He stepped back to the wall. "Here goes." I blew on The Book, and the ruby particles stuck to the page just like the locket, but only in some places, forming words on the page. "It worked! What does it say?" "It's in French! Dang it, Ry. Smart ideas you got..." I looked back down at the page. I started to cough. "Man this thing is dusty. What do we do now, Ry? We're stuck. There's no way to translate it." "Well, there's online translators-" "You got a computer hidden somewhere here? No. Me either. Stop comin' up with ideas we can't use." He gets it from his dad, I thought. "Well, then let's just not use the book. We'll ask Uncle J when he comes back from his business trip." Rhys did come up with some stupid ideas, but that one was he worst. Even though I didn't know at the time, that idea of his would be my demise.
