Chapter 10
"Health is not valued till sickness comes." -Thomas Fuller
"Well, what now? Your uncle doesn't come home for 5 days!" I started to cough. "And if my parents see me in this, they'd kill me!" I looked at myself in the mirror again. I was wearing one of those half-shirts with golden embroidery, butter-yellow lace, and ruby beads hanging from golden twine. Instead of pants I wore a tie-dye wrap with golden flowers embedded into the fabric. My arms were covered in bangles and tied cloth, and my entire body was covered with red and black swirled tattoos. My hair was kept out of my face with twisted red and gold rope, placed on my head like a crown. I went straight across my forehead. My ears were adorned with gold and ruby chains and piercings of all kinds. My lips were covered with bright red lipstick, the shade of Rudolph's nose. "I guess you could borrow some of my clothes, but they might be kinda big. Give me a minute." He started up the stairs. After a few minutes, he came back down and handed me a huge plaid sweatshirt, ripped jeans, and a pair of size thirteen converses. "Well, here. I guess you could try somethin to make it fit?" He gave me a sly smile. "I guess." I coughed a little more, then cleared my throat and blew on the clothes. "My size! Sweet." I went to the bathroom and changed, and came out to show him his shrunken outfit. "Sadly, the tattoos don't come off." He grinned. "I didn't know that, Ris." Well, school's halfway over. I have to go. Bye Ry." I turned and walked, planning my usual way into the school. I ditched a lot. "Bye, Rissy." I blushed and ran the rest of the way.
