Justin's P.O.V.
I heard my alarm clock go off. I didn't realize how loud I had set it. It was so loud. "Shhhh!" I whispered angrily at my alarm clock. I quickly got up to turn it off. I picked it up and searched for the button to turn it off. I couldn't find it. My alarm clock got louder. (My alarm clock was the that type of alarm clock that would get louder the longer you ignored it.)
I knew I should've set the alarm on my phone. But I decided to go with the alarm clock because my dad gave it to me. When my mom said she was going to call him, it made me think of him and miss him more. I haven't seen him for months now; because of his work. My alarm clock got louder.
'Why did I use this thing?' I thought. I finally found the switch to turn it off. I turned it off and the lights came on. I dropped my alarm clock and turned around. "Justin." my mom mumbled. I quickly got into my bed and pulled the covers over my head. "I'm asleep." I said.
"Then why are you talking to me?" she asked. "I'm sleep talking." I lied. "Why are you up at 3 in the morning?" she asked. "Sorry, I'm sleeping. Can't talk right now." I said. "Then I'll find out later mister." she said. I heard her footsteps leaving the room.
I waited for the lights to turn off. As soon as the lights turned off I took my covers off of my head and got up out of my bed. I picked up my alarm clock and put it back up on the shelf. I walked over to the door, and stuck my head out the door. I squinted. I thought the harder I squinted the better my vision would be in the dark. It didn't help.
I quietly went down the stairs. I went into the kitchen and turned the lights on. I quickly turned around to see if my mom was there. She wasn't. I turned back around and walked over to the fridge; and opened it. I looked in the fridge for the milk.
I pulled the gallon of milk out of the fridge. The gallon hadn't been opened yet. I set it down on the counter. I went back over to the fridge to check if there was another gallon. There wasn't. I gently closed the fridge. I walked back over to where I set the milk down. I picked up the gallon of milk and walked over to the sink. I set the cap on the counter facing up, then poured the milk down the sink.
My plan was to sleep in until 10:30 then come down stairs by 11:55 then ask for pancakes. Then when my mom realizes we are out of milk she'll let me leave to go to the store. Which will leave me with enough time to pick Selena up then go to IHOP.
I heard the footsteps coming down the stairs. I poured the last drops of milk into the sink. I quickly put the cap on the empty gallon and put it back in the fridge. I closed the fridge. My mom walked into the kitchen with a confused look on her face.
"Justin, what are you doing?" she asked. I stuck my arms out in front of me and walked slowly towards my mom and closed my eyes. "I'm sleepwalking." I lied. "Justin stop it, and go to bed." she demanded. I put my arms down and opened my eyes. "Fine, I was just here for water anyways." I mumbled. "Yeah sure you were." my mom said sarcastically.
Selena's P.O.V.
It was the morning, and I still hadn't thought of a plan to get out of the house. I needed to get out of here by 11:55 so I would have enough time to meet Justin in front of my house. I heard Gracie start to cry.
"Selena get your sister!" my mom yelled. I walked out of my room and went across the hall to go to Gracie's room. Gracie was crying louder. I walked over to her crib and picked her up. I could tell Gracie had a wet diaper. I put Gracie on the ground. I hated changing diapers. I wanted to call my mom so she could do it, but I decided to let her sleep in.
She deserved it. I walked over to where we kept Gracie's diapers. I saw we only had 1 diaper left in the box that was open, and 1 full box. Then I got an idea to get out of the house at 12:00. I took the last diaper out of the box and changed Gracie. I put Gracie back in the crib, and she stopped crying.
I walked back over to where the diapers were. I looked around the room, especially the doorway to see if anyone was there. No one was there. I placed the empty box of diapers on top of the full box of diapers. I picked up both boxes. I turned my head and looked down at the ground to see where I was going.
I was praying that I wouldn't run into anyone. Especially my mom and stepdad. I just had to make it outside to the garbage cans with both of the boxes.
I came to the front door with the boxes. I tried to grab the doorknob, but I couldn't. I reached my hand out further and the top box fell on the floor. I bit my lip and closed my eyes. 'I should've set them on the ground.' I thought. The box made a thud noise when it hit the ground.
'No one heard that. No one heard that.' I thought trying to reassure myself. I opened the front door. The door made a quick loud sneak. 'No one hear that. No one heard that.' I thought. I heard footsteps coming down the hall. 'Oh no.' I thought. I froze. I wasn't sure what to do. I was about to get caught in the middle of my lie.
I saw my step-dad. "Selena? What are you doing?" he asked. I looked down at the full box of diapers in my hand. I quickly threw them out the front door and closed it. "Throwing boxes away." i said. I felt a little guilty. I wasn't lying, but it felt like it was a lie.
"Why?" he asked. "Well it's garbage day." I said. "No garbage day was yesterday." he said. "Oh yeah, totally forgot. I'll just throw these away....you know to be prepared for next week." I said. He gave me a weird look but I could tell he was going to go with it.
"Okay. Well I'm going back to bed." he said. I picked up the empty box then opened the door. I closed the door behind me. I picked up the full box of diapers. I went over to the trash cans and threw the boxes away. By noon my mom would realize we needed diapers. Then I would be out front waiting for Justin.
