Justin's P.O.V.
I stared at my alarm clock. Only one more minute till 11:55. My heart began beating faster. I stared at the clock. It seemed like the minute hand was going slower on purpose. This was the longest minute ever. Then the minute hand reached the 11. I went downstairs as fast I could, but not a fast that was noticeable. I went into the kitchen and saw my mom.
"Good morning sweetie." my mom said. "Morning." I said. "Morning." I responded. I looked around the kitchen. It was a little late for breakfast, but I couldn't go back on my plan now. "Hey mom, can we have pancakes for breakfast?" I asked. My mom gave me a weird look. "Justin you slept in pretty late. Do you realize what time it is?" my mom asked. Of course I knew what time it was. I'm supposed to pic Selena up in half an hour.
"Please. I'm hungry." I begged. "Then make them yourself. You're how old?" she asked. "Yeah mom, I know how old I am. But please. The way you make them is perfect." I said. "Oh really? The why do you always say I'm a terrible cook?" she asked. "Mom it's not about how they taste. It's about how much love you put into them." I said.
My mom rolled her eyes. "Just eat cereal." she said. "But mom." I said. "Justin it's time for lunch and we can go out to eat." my mom said. "No, no, no. Why go out to eat when we have all ingredients to make pancakes?" I asked. "Justin; why are you so insistent on pancakes?" my mom asked. "I'm just in a pancake mood." I replied. My mom gave me a weird look.
"Well if you're in the mood for pancakes, then why don't we just go to IHOP?" she asked. 'Great. I knew I shouldn't have pushed pancakes so much. There was no way I was bringing my mom along to hang out with me and Selena. "No. Let's eat them here." I begged.
"Fine; let's get the ingredients." my mom said. Finally my plan was working. "I'll get the pancake mix." my mom said. "I'll get the milk." I insisted with a smirk. I opened the fridge and my eyes immediately went to the empty gallon of milk. I pulled the empty gallon out of the fridge. "Mom we're out of milk." I said. I turned around and showed her the empty gallon. My mom stared at the gallon in an odd way.
"That's funny. I just bought a new gallon yesterday. How could we already be out?" she asked. "Are you sure you bought it yesterday?" I asked while setting the empty gallon on the counter. I turned around and looked in the fridge.
"Is there another gallon?" she asked. I knew there wasn't another gallon, but at least I had to act like I was trying to find another gallon. I closed the fridge then turned around and shook my head.
My mom put the pancake mix back in the cupboard. "Wait mom what are you doing?" I asked. "Well if there's no milk then I guess we'll have something else." she said. 'Wait. What? No. How could my plan be backfiring?' I thought. "But mom, I have to have pancakes." I said. "Oh my gosh Justin. Then let's just go to IHOP already." my mom said. "But mom, why would we go out. I have a simple solution to our problem." I said.
"And what is that?" she asked. "I just go buy milk." I replied. 'Please, please, please say yes.' I thought. "Okay, fine. Let's go to the store." she said. "Wait mom." I said. My mom began leaving the kitchen then stopped; she turned around. I walked over to my mom. "Mom please just let me go to the store. Let me get the milk and you can stay here; so you can make the pancake batter." I said in the most convincing voice possible.
"But Justin, there's no way I'm letting you drive. Especially after the accident." she explained. "But mom." I whined. "I'll just get the milk and you stay here." she said. My mom turned around and grabbed the keys off the table, then walked towards the door. I ran in front of her.
"Mom please. I'd be more than happy to go for you." I said. "I know Justin." she said. "Please mom...Wait what?" I asked. "I know you do Justin. I'm not stupid. I knew that you weren't sleepwalking last night, I saw you pour that whole gallon of milk down the sink. And I know exactly why you want to go so bad." she admitted.
