Chapter 40

Justin's P.O.V.

I unwrapped my arm from Selena, when Taylor ran up to us. She had a ton of tiny stockings on her sweater. She hugged Selena. They stopped hugging. "Love your guys' sweaters." Taylor said with excitement. "Thanks love your's too." Selena said. Taylor smiled at Selena then me. She was staring at me in a funny way. "Thanks for inviting us." I said.

"Yeah sure. Anything for you Justin...........and Selena." Taylor said while quickly looking back at Selena when she said her name. 'That was a long pause before she said Selena's name.' I thought. Selena grabbed my hand. "Well I guess we'll see you later." Selena said. "Okay see ya." Taylor said. "Bye." I said. Selena lead me over to the lake. We stopped near the edge of the lake.

Selena moved in closer to me and leaned against me. It was dark yet the view of the lake was beautiful. "The view is so beautiful." Selena said. "Not as beautiful as you." I said. Selena giggled. "Stop lying." Selena said. "I'm not lying. You're beautiful Selena." I said. Selena blushed and smiled a little. "Thank you." she said. Selena and I looked at the lake.

Then I felt the ring in my pocket. This was the perfect time to give Selena the ring. I unwrapped my arm from Selena. She then turned and faced me. We both smiled at each other. I felt the ring in my pocket. Selena looked away from me. I looked over in the direction she was looking.

I saw Taylor running towards us. Seriously why did everyone have to ruin our special moments? I let go of the ring. "Hey." Selena and I said simultaneously. "Why are you guys way over here? You know you don't have to be embarrassed dating each other. I mean most of the school ships you guys." Taylor said.

"Tay. We aren't embarrassed to be dating each other." Selena said. Taylor looked a little disappointed. "So why are you way over here?" she repeated. "Just embracing the moment." Selena answered. "Well embrace away then!" Taylor said then walked off quickly.

I looked at Selena. "Justin. Can I ask you something?" Selena asked. I became a little scared. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to expect from Selena. 'Did she want to break-up with me?' I thought nervously. "I have this kind of weird feeling. I might be wrong, and I shouldn't accuse but honestly-" I cut her off.

"Just tell me Selena." I begged. "I think Taylor like really likes you now." she admitted. "Yeah we knew that, when she kissed me." I said. "Babe look, it's just kind of weird now. Like I thought she would back off of you by now." Selena admitted.

"Selena don't worry. All I care about is you. You're all that matters to me." I said. Selena blushed the smiled. "You're all that matters to me too Justin." Selena said with a smile.

Selena's P.O.V.

Justin just said I was all that matters to him. And he smiled when I said he was all that matters to me. I saw Justin reach for his front left pocket. "Selena I have something for you." Justin said. "Oh Justin you shouldn't have." I said. "I know, but I wanted to." he said.

Fireflies flew around us and the lake. "But Justin, I have nothing for you." I said. "Babe it's fine." he said. I smiled at him. Justin took a small box out of his pocket. The box look like it contained a ring. I knew I shouldn't be jumping to conclusions, but why wouldn't I?

Justin and I liked each other and we were both that all mattered to each other. My heart began to race. I couldn't get married! Not now! I was too young. I mean I loved Justin. But I wasn't ready to get married. I mean I wanted to be with him like that, but not now. Not at this age.

Justin held the box in front of me. "Justin, I'm sorry. I can't accept it." I said. Justin looked confused. "Selena." he said. "Babe I'm sorry." I apologized. Justin laughed. "You're just as bad as my mom." he laughed. 'What was he talking about? Why was he laughing?' I thought.

"What's so funny?" I asked. Justin kept laughing. "Justin please tell me." I begged. Justin stopped laughing. "Selena it's not an engagement ring," he laughed, "My mom thought it was the same thing." 'Wait if it's not an engagement ring, then what is it?' I thought.

"Uhm then what is it?" I asked. Justin smiled. By the face he made. By the face he made I could tell he was about to tell me. He opened the box. I looked down at the box. My jaw dropped. "Oh my gosh Justin you seriously shouldn't have." I said. "Stop saying that. You deserve it." he said.

I looked at the ring in the box. It was so perfect. It was made of diamonds and in the shape of a J. I looked up at Justin, and into his eyes. "Is the J for Justin?" I asked. 'That was such a stupid question. It was obviously for Justin. I mean what else would it stand for?' I thought.

Justin smiled. "Well of course." he said. Justin took the ring out of the box and put the box back in his pocket. He took my left hand and began putting the ring on my ring finger.

"This is a promise ring. A ring to promise that I will always love you; forever." Justin said. He let go of my hand after he put the ring on.

"Justin you know what promise rings are actually for right?" I asked. Justin wrapped his arm around me and I moved in closer to him. "I know. I mean those things too." he said with a smile. I leaned up against him, and put my head on his shoulder. We looked up at the stars. They were shining so bright. This moment was beyond perfect, and I was glad to share it with my perfect boyfriend. I would never forget this moment.

The fireflies gathered around Justin and I. Justin unwrapped his arm from me. He turned and faced me. He took both of my hands. He looked into my eyes. "This is forever." he said. His voice was so sexy. The tone. The words. It was all a dream come true. This is forever.

"This is forever." I said with a smile. Justin put his forehead against mine, then he wrapped his arms around my waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck. This moment felt so magical. The lake, the fireflies and under the stars. It was perfect. I wanted this moment to last forever. He took his forehead off of mine.

Justin moved in closer. He moved in until our Christmas reefs on our shirts stopped him. He looked into my eyes. I got lost in his eyes. "Selena I love you." he said. 'I love you. He actually said that! He loved me! He loved me!' I thought. I couldn't believe he loved me. I smiled at him.

"I love you too." I said. I leaned in and we began kissing. After Justin said: I love you. The stars shined brighter, the fireflies glowed brighter and everything was perfect.

Justin and I kept kissing. His lips were so kissable and irresistible . I stopped kissing Justin. "Justin, I love you so much." I said. "I love you so much too." he said. Justin hugged me. In his arms I felt like time had stopped. If time really did stop, it stopped at the perfect moment. Justin let go of me. He smiled then grabbed my hand.

Justin's P.O.V.

I grabbed Selena's hand and lead her back to the party. Finally I had told her that I loved her, and she loved me back. I looked at Selena. She looked at the ring on her finger. By the look in her eye I could tell she loved it.

Taylor came over to us. "Where were you guys? You missed it." she said. Selena and I stopped walking. 'Taylor you knew where we were at.' I thought. "What did we miss?" Selena asked. Taylor pinned a blue ribbon on my chest, and pinned a matching on on Selena's shoulder. "You guys won best matching sweaters for couples." she said.

Selena looked at me and smiled. I looked over at Taylor. "Well thanks for the ribbons. We'll see you later." I said. Selena and I walked past Taylor. "Okay. Well see ya!" Taylor yelled.

Selena and I walked to my car. I opened the door for Selena and she got in. I closed the door then walked around the car and got in. I closed the door then walked around the car and got in. I sat down in the car. I felt Selena's lips against my cheek. She removed her lips from my cheek.

"Thank you." she said. I looked over at Selena and said, "No, thank you." Selena smiled and I smiled back. Then I backed out and drove Selena home.
