"The old hospital.... That isn't going to be easy for either of us, but we will stay strong together. We need a place to protect the children from the bounties on their heads, and we need to free the others." Jayda said calmly.
"We do need a base... A base of united warriors..." I paused, realizing that I had a good name for us. "The United... That can be our name. Our little team works well together and we can train the others. That way we can rescue many of the children, and have a safe place for them to grow."
"I like that, as long as I'm teaching them to fight-" Jayda started, but I cut her off.
"You can be the combat instructor as long as you don't kill any of the students." I said concerned for the children.
"I won't kill them.... And if I do, I bet angel-boy will save them." Jayda said jokingly.
"No.... Not even Willis can revive others. When you die, you die..." I said softly, and I took Jayda's hand, and pictured the hospital. I pulled Jayda through the void as I jumped. When the light returned to our surroundings, Jayda fell onto her hands and knew, and looked sick, but she quickly recovered and stood.
"How did you not fall over?" Jayda muttered shocked. She looked like she was going to be sick, but she was recovering at a rapid rate.
"It never has been difficult for me... I just pass through my realm, through a place I call the void. I guess it could be difficult for you.... You don't live in my realm, and I do, so I guess my interdimensional geo-leaping could be difficult for you...." I said looking at Jayda.
"Let's just not speak of this. We have to fix this place up a bit..." Jayda muttered looking around.
The building wasn't lit up in the slightest, so I entered my realm, and fixed the electrical grid from within, then watched as the building lit up. I went one way, and Jayda went the other, scoping out where the training areas and bunks would be. We then knew the houses in the nearby districts would serve us for materials.
I walked down the halls, knowing Jayda and I would have to find body bags for the victims of the plague, and I knew eventually would have to go back to the place this all started, but not yet. I wasn't prepared for that, so I walked down the halls, and realized the top four floors could be dorms. Two for boys, and two for girls, and 31 of the remaining floors could be used for training purposes, and classes, and the last floor would be a mess hall for all the students. I looked around for Jayda, and when I couldn't find her, I began to get wood to make renovations from the nearby houses.
Jayda and I worked on fixing the old hospital up and child proofing it up until the point we crashed from exhaustion. I looked at the sky and noticed how late it was. I had been gone all day, and Aaron would be worried... But I knew Jayda would not appreciate it if I left, so I stayed, knowing I could go back in the morning.
I had one more thing to do before I slept tonight.... And I wasn't going to ask Jayda to help. I walked up to the third floor. The floor untouched by either of us, and I grabbed a body bag. I walked over to the now shattered glass, and saw the remains of Jayda's and my own transformation, before looking over at my mother again. It pained me to see her dead again, but I had to do this. No one else would. I laid out the body bag, and closed it carefully, before carrying it down to the funeral home. I found a casket there earlier, and I already had a place in mind. My mom had always loved the stars in the sky, so I went to the open field, and crafted a tombstone for my mother with my powers. R.I.P Lydia Ann Contra, Mother, Wife, and Hero...
I gazed upon my mother's grave one last time before turning away, only to find Jayda standing behind me.
"Why didn't you ask me to help? I know this is hard for you... I could have helped." Jayda muttered, looking me in the eyes.
