Not Yet! I felt the sickness creeping over me, But I was not going to give up. Not now, not ever! I opened my eyes, just in time to see Jayda, who looked as though she was covered in stone. And in a flash, She came forth. Her eyes flashing from violet to green and back again. She put her back to me, and I saw them, a pair of wings... Dark angel wings... If she was okay... did that mean... I sat up slowly. My body ached, and she started to call to me. I tried to tell her I was behind her, but she didn't hear me, or see me. I couldn't speak. For a moment, I thought it would be permanent, but eventually, I regained my voice.
"I'm right here Jayda..." I whispered, walking to her.
The hospital looked deserted, and I didn't see a change in myself, as I saw in Jayda. I didn't have wings, but I am faster than I was before, and I wished that the doors would open and they did, without touching them. No one noticed us as we walked outside. I didn't realize until later what had happened. We stepped out of the hospital and saw that the entire place was deserted... I like to hope that my father and brother are still out there... But I will never know... not until I see them with powers.
Jayda and I kept running, and no one saw us for whatever reason... You would think that you would see two speedy teenagers, but no one did. Jayda flew, and I watched her, and took a few steps up, When I looked at the ground, I realized that I was seemingly levitating above the ground, as Jayda flew. I followed her, but I don't think she could see anything... My vision is warped at the moment... All I see of color is in Jayda's eyes, and they are violet now... As I continued to run, I felt myself growing weaker. I struggled to keep up with Jayda as she soared ahead of me. Finally, Jayda stopped, but she began to fall. I jumped down to the ground, surprisingly not getting hurt from the nearly ten foot fall. Jayda finally seemed to be able to see me. Color returned to my vision, and I felt a little of my strength return. I walked closer to Jayda but she was shaking.
"No... Stay Away from me! I'll hurt you..." She said before sitting down and putting her head on her knees and sitting on the grass, which seemed to object as it turned gray, all the color draining from it.
I walked forward. There was no way I was letting her go through this alone. She looked like a fallen angel, something I had told her of so long ago... I walked forward and tried to put my hand on her shoulder to comfort her, but my hand seemed to faze right through her. I stared down at my hand for a moment, and then began to see it, the darkness, the shadow that wrapped itself around my being. I may not appear to be changed as Jayda, but I definitely am... The shadow is hiding whatever I have become.... I tried to comfort Jayda again, and focused on my hand's physical form. When it worked, I smiled slightly, and sat down next to her. I began acting almost like a mother, as I let Jayda lean on me slightly, and stroked her hair.... It was something my mother had always done to calm me down... So maybe it would help her.
All at once I began to feel sick, my body began to shake, and I felt like it was on fire. It stung and burned, the pain fresh in my mind, until everything started fading to black. The last thing I remember, was a man with defiant ocean colored eyes, and caramel colored hair standing within eye shot of me, and the darkness amassing around us. He glanced around confused at first, then his body ignited, and he was surrounded by flames. He glanced at me one last time before everything faded to black.
"Arg! Jayda!" I awoke with a start, my heart racing and struggling to move against the pain.
"Oh good you're awake now." The man from before muttered, staring at me.
"Where is Jayda? Where are we? What is this place? And who the hell are you?" I muttered angrily.
"All will be explained... You must calm down... Maria..." The man said softly, with a slight hint of love in his eyes.
All at once, I remembered, my true love... my forever love.... "Aaron....." I breathed in sharply... "How are you... They told me.... That you were...." I muttered, shocked to see him...
"That I was dead... And I was... The me that existed before the powers... That me was gone, but I never forgot you... It was painful for me to let you think I was dead... all I wanted to do was come back and tell you.... Ours is forever love my queen..." Aaron sighed slightly, glancing over at me as I calmed down.
I felt myself blush... My queen... It has been so long since I heard those words.... "What in the world happened to us?" I muttered, looking at my hands, and then back at Aaron.
"We are gifted Maria... When the plague should have killed us it didn't, and it gave us powers instead. Our gifts are all different... Like mine lies in fire, and yours shadows, and other forces around you." Aaron smiled.
"And where is Jayda?" I said trying to stand.
"Oh no you don't! You overused your abilities and you are exhausted... You can't just-" Aaron started but stopped again as I stood.
"No. I am okay... Where is Jayda?" I repeated.
"I will take you to her later." Aaron said right before my vision blurred again, and I saw only the color of his eyes.
"Where did you go Maria?" Aaron said looking where I stood. I walked closer to him, and put my arms around him.
"I missed you... My forever love... Amor meus in aeternum...." I whispered, and Aaron tensed up, before wrapping his arms around me, and then smiled.
"So there you are my queen... I didn't know where you went until you showed me..." Aaron smiled slightly, and bit his lip before bending down to kiss me, but I pulled back.
"Not yet. Where is Jayda... and... do you know what happened to my family?" I said shyly turning away.
"That may be a problem... I assume Jayda was the person we found you with, she was extremely hostile, and they have her in solitary confinement until further notice." Aaron sighed. "You and her are very powerful, they are actually scared. Scared like they are of me, Rin, Kathleen, and Willis. Our powers are kind of out of control... so they keep Rin and me together because we counteract each other... Fire and Water... Kathleen with her telekinesis, telepathy, and hypnotic suggestions is unbalanced by anyone.... As is Willis our angel of glorious light. Though your friend could balance him out."
"I can still go to see her. You couldn't find me remember?" I pointed out.
"Fine, but I am coming with you. You don't know the halls." Aaron pointed out.
"You won't be able to go near there... They will see you." I told him shaking my head.
"Not if you mask me. Your power will cover mine if you will it to. Imagine us both vanishing." Aaron said closing his eyes.
I closed my eyes as well, and when I blinked open the color faded from the world around me, though Aaron remained the same. "Did it work?" I managed to ask.
"I think so.... I see your shadows.... It is almost like you have your own realm.... Everything is black and white here except you." Aaron muttered glancing around.
"Normally I only see the color of someone's eyes.... Like Jayda's newly turned violet eyes. Or your Ocean eyes...." I smiled slightly, as Aaron nodded, and led me out of the hospital wing.
We walked the halls one by one, and passed many people. Aaron tried to tell me their names, but I ignored him. Finally, we turned to a darker hallway. It almost looks like a dungeon. In a high tech place like this, it was very out of place. Aaron led me to the cell on the far wall. The door was sealed and Aaron tried to open it.
"Damn it... Locked." He muttered.
