Chapter 12

Adeline's POV:

"Father! I've missed you!" I said as I ran up to him. He hugged me and smiled. Then he turned to Adrien. "G-good afternoon, father. I was waiting for you." Adrien said, nervously. Father flashed him a half-hearted smile. But after a second, it vanished.

Adrien looked at the marble floor, hurt was clear on his face. I felt bad for him. Father had always been so nice towards me. But, when Adrien went to school without telling him, father considered him as a 'Ungrateful son'. While I was his 'Grateful daughter'.

"Adeline, I have matters to discuss with you. Come to my study right after 5 minutes." Father ordered me seriously. Guess he finally found out about Nuru. "Yes. Father." I nodded. "Good" he stared at me with cold eyes for a minute or two then walked away.

"Hey, Ada?" Adrien said as father went. "Yeah?" I turned to face him.

"Does father share everything with you?" Adrien asked.

"Yeah. I guess so." I admitted.

"Can you tell me everything he said to you?" He asked. I looked at him.

"You'll know eventually." I smirked. He looked at me, confused. "Well then. I should go. Wouldn't want to be late." I said and went to the study room.

Five minutes later...

"May I come in?" I knocked on Father's study room. "Enter." I heard father from inside. I opened the door and went inside. Father was standing, facing the painting of mother.

"Adeline Agreste. I believe you have something to tell me." Father said. I tried to act scared. "L-like w-what?" I stuttered.

"Where is my Kawami?!" Father demanded, his voice louder than before. "I do not know what you are talking about, father." I said, taking a deep breath before answering.

"Nuru wasn't with me when I reached there. Where did you keep her?" Father asked, turning to face me. His eyes red with anger.

"I have Nuru with me. Because I want to stop you from hurting my friends." I stated bluntly. He slammed his hand on the table. "I knew it! The outside world was never meant for you! Your friends can only let you down!" Father shouted.

"You were a perfect girl before you went to a school!" He said. "No father. I wasn't a perfect girl before. I was a perfect daughter of Gabriel Agreste. There was no 'me' before. But now, I have friends to support me and friends to care for me." I said calmly.

Father sighed. "First your mother, and now you and Adrien. I've lost my kids. I've lost my everything." He said, looking at the ground.

"We won't leave you, father. If you stop this, Adrien and I will be by your side." I said. He shook his head. "No! Lies! I would never!" He said and walked out of the room.

I sighed. But it was going great. Now all I needed was for him to get Adrien's and Marenette's miraculous. My plan was going well...

🐱Adrien's POV🐱

I was roaming around my room. "What is father and Ada hiding, Plagg?" I asked. Plagg stared at me with his bored eyes. "Calm down, kiddo. She said you'll know eventually." Plagg told me.

"I guess you're right." I sighed and sat down on my bed.

"Here, why don't you play with your actin figure dolls?" Plagg suggested, pulling out Ladybugs doll from under the bed and handing it me.

"I'm not a kid anymore, Plagg." I said. "Then why did you purchase these?" Plagg asked and pulled out Chat Noir's doll. "I love you Ladybug." Plagg mimicked my voice, holding Chat's doll, but it came out like a squeak.

I laughed. "Shut up, Plagg."

"I am bored, Adrien. Gimme cheese." Plagg groaned. I sighed and handed Plagg some of the stinky cheese. My eyes spotted the miraculous ring on my finger and I stared at it.

"It looks so plain." I said.

"It helps with_" Plagg was interrupted by the clicking of the door. "Hide, Plagg!" I hissed and Plagg rushed under the bed. "May I come in, Adrien?" I heard Father's voice.

I was surprised. Was this what Ada meant by "You'll know eventually."? "Yes, father." I said and He walked in.

Father sat beside me on the bed. "Adrien, I wanted to say something to you." He said. "Sure, father."

He looked at me and made eye contact.

"I have been a terrible father to you all this time. And I'm so sorry. I hope you'll forgive me." He started.

I was shocked. Where did this come from? Father was apologizing? "It's alright. I've got Ada now and I understand that you are busy and you can't give me time." I said.

Father shook his head. "No, Adrien. I've been terrible and now I want to make it up to you. Why don't you invite your friend, Marenette over?" He said.

I was overjoyed. "Only Marenette?" I asked. "Ummm...well I wanted to have a word with her. I remember you mentioning that Marenette was a great designer. Well, tonight I have a party here and I want you to bring Marenette with you. I want to introduce you to some people." Father explained.

"Oh. Alright." I agreed. He got up and walked to the door. "And oh. I almost forgot, you have to wear a design I've been working on. I'll have Natalie give it you. Get ready and invite Marenette right now." He ordered and I nodded.

He looked at my hand for a minute. "And that ring of yours. Get it off. I've got a better one. Hand it to Natalie when she comes." He said and shut the door without letting me speak.

My eyes widened. "Plagg! What do I do?!" I hissed and Plagg flew out of under the bed. And as if on cue, Ada entered my room.

"I heard Everything." She announced and sat beside me. "So? What do I do?" I asked. She smiled at me.

"You have to take it off, Adrien!" She exclaimed. "What?! Why?!"

"Look, Adrien. This is your chance! Bond with father. He thinks that you are ungrateful. And that's why he is so cold towards you. Prove him wrong. I'm sure Plagg won't mind to disappear for two hours or more." She said and looked at Plagg.

"No way! I do min_" again he was interrupted. Ada shoved some camembert in his mouth. "I'll give you two large jars of Camembert!" She said. Plagg grinned. "I don't mind!"

I sighed. "If you think this is right, I'll do it." I said and Ada smiled.
