Emiko's POV

I then suddenly felt a sharp pain on my right cheek. My face turned to the side and my cheek becoming red. I held my cheek and looked at her coldly which making Yuki back down after slapping me.

"I-I'm sorry but what you were telling me are lies! All lies!" She then desperately turned to Kaname, "She's lying isn't she, Kaname-senpai?"

Kaname did not answer and reached out to my face where he removed my hand and examined the redness of my cheek. He carefully ran his icy fingers over my bruised cheek. I then immediately felt it become relax and the pain disappearing.

"You're a liar! Nothing but a liar!"

"Why would I lie to you? I'm not one to be so pathetic as to lie about my family." I stated coldly.

Yuki looked at me with tears in her eyes. Her balled fists trembled and she turned away, running from the scene. Kaname sighed and decided to head after her, calmly taking long strides as he followed her.

I rubbed my cheek, exhaling without a care in the world. She was bound to know anyway. I just gave her a little boost, that's all.

In the corner of my eyes, I saw a familiar face. I quickly faced his lilac eyes, staring at me from the distance. Did he hear it all? That I was related to somebody he despises so much? I had never spoken much of my past to Zero because it brought back bad memories. Now that we were lovers, would it be okay to share my past with him?

Maybe I was too late for that.

I watched as Zero shook his head and walked away, his hands digging in his pockets. I decided to run after him, pushing my way through people trying to focus on his distancing back. I had bumped into someone and apologised but after I looked back to where Zero was, he was gone.

I look down at my shoes and sighed, continuing to push through people as trying to find him.

Somehow, after several minuted, I found myself standing outside the cabin. I notice a figure sitting on a large stone. Zero's back was facing me. His hair blew in the wind and his head was tilted down. He had a stick on in his hand, playing with it and breaking it quietly.

I slowly approached him, my steps becoming lighter. He must've heard crunches of the leaves because his head perked up, though he did not turn to face me.

"Is that why you hate Yuki so much? Did she ruin your life? Did she hurt you?" He asked quietly, making my heart twist in pain.

I swallowed the lump in my throat after stopped at a good distance.

"Yes." I stated, bowing my head down.

He was quiet for a moment. The atmosphere between us was heavy and I didn't make any attempt to continue the conversation. What did be think of me?

"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked once again.

"I wanted to forget the memories. I wanted to forget the past so I chose not to tell."

"I could've helped you! I could've helped you cope with the pain just like you helped me cope with mine!"

"No one could help me! I'm forever scarred for the rest of my life!"

"And you think I'm not?"

I stayed quiet, not replying. He was right. Zero is also scarred, having the burden of becoming a Level E. He, too, is scarred mentally after having his parents killed in front of him. The twisting pain in my heart increased.

Zero finally turned to face me. I notice he was gripping on his pants tightly.

"When were you going to choose to stop bottling everything up? There is a limit to how much a person can take. You helped me through my dark days, but I couldn't help you with yours. I don't understand how you could fix me when you haven't even attempted to fix yourself?" He said, loud and clear.
