Galina was so excited to be seeing Valeria again especially now that her and Ilia were married and expecting a baby. She knew that his mother would be over the moon with the news and in that instant, she had wished that Zoya was still around. It would have thrilled her to no end, becoming a great grand mother.
Ilia had told her that they could have driven, but he didn't want her uncomfortable for that long, so he made the decision to fly instead and she was okay with that.
Looking over at her husband, she studied his handsome face just like she had so many times before. She loved him, so much, and she had purposed in her heart that no matter what was going on with his or her day, she would always find the time to tell him that she loved him.
Our tomorrows are never guaranteed, only today. She didn't know if it was the hormones or just the feelings he brought out in her but she never wanted to lay her head down at night without telling him how she felt.
He was deep in thought over a text he'd received that he never picked up on her watching him until she placed her hand over his phone, bringing his full attention to her.
But she made sure before he could say anything or ask her anything, she leaned over and planted a kiss on his lips. It started out as a simple peck, but once his lips touched hers, her emotions took over and it developed into something deeper.
She loved exploring his mouth with her tongue, the way they made love to each other felt so good and true. Galina knew she had the real thing with Ilia and she couldn't help but feel sorry for people who had not experienced this.
"Hmm" Ilia hummed pulling back from her. "What was that all about, detka?" he asked as he caressed her face.
"I just wanted to kiss my husband" she said sweetly. "I also want him to know, everyday, several times a day, how much I love him and need him." She did love him. So much.
Tightening his grip a bit on her chin, he pulled her closer, his eyes taking her in while she did the same. "Never stop" was his plea. "You have no idea how much it means to me, to hear my wife tell me all the time how much she loves me. I need to hear it as much as I want to hear it" he told her.
"I love you, Ilia" she told him again. Expelling a ragged breath, he laid his forehead against hers. "Damn it I really want to be inside you right now. As soon as we can, I want you in bed. I want to make love to you, Galina. I need it and so do you."
She couldn't find any fault with what he'd just said and promised as soon as they were settled in at his mom's and they had some alone time, they would go to bed and make love.
Patting his knee, she told him to go back to his phone, that she was going to shut her eyes and rest a little before they arrived in Moscow.
Leaning over, she placed her head on his shoulder and received a kiss on the head which made her smile. Letting her eyes close, she drifted off into a peaceful, much needed sleep.
"Galina, baby. Wake up. We're here" she heard that familiar voice ring out softly in her ear. "Wow" she said stretching. "I can't believe how tired I get these days. Our little guy here must be growing like a weed" she laughed rubbing her baby bump.
Grasping Ilia's hand, they stepped carefully down the stairs and into a waiting car, which sped them off towards Valeria's home.
Ilia had already told her that his mother's home was in the country but she hadn't realized that he really meant the country. The traveled through winding roads, that contained beautiful trees lining the roadways.
The foliage was still green everywhere, so it added that much more beauty to their surroundings. It seemed quiet and peaceful, just the kind of environment that she loved.
Sensing that the car was beginning to slow down, she watched them turn left off the main road and drive about a mile or two deeper into a wooded area and when they came through the clearing, she gasped at what she saw.
It was truly magnificent. Multi-story home, made of wood and stone, multiple stairs around in back that went down into a man-made lake.
The landscaping was breathtaking as well. Trees for miles, bushes and shrubs, and all kinds of bright, beautiful flowers adorned the outside everywhere. She loved that fact that Aleksei's grandmother lived here and that he would have the chance to grow up and thrive here as a child.
"What do you think?" Ilia asked her quietly. Turning to him, she asked "You grew up here?" He nodded. "You must have had some great fun growing up and playing here" Galina said innocently.
Ilia smirked and replied "I did have some great times here, for the most part, but as soon as I turned fifteen, I had to grow up and start preparing to take over for my father. Childish things were put away as I became the man of the house."
Galina felt bad for her husband, in that she didn't think he had been allowed to have the childhood that all children should get to experience and she had every intention of talking with Valeria about it.
She wanted to get her take on Ilia, his childhood, etc. because even though they talked, he still didn't open up to her on everything and to her, the best source was the mom. That's where you would get everything you wanted to hear, baby pictures, all of it.
As they stepped from the car, she saw Ilia's mom bound down the steps, grab her son and pull him into a loving hug. She hadn't seen either of them since Irina's funeral and she knew that in and of itself had been hard on her.
"Ilia, my son. You look well. Very well" she said smiling and holding him at arms length. "Marriage most certainly agrees with you." Ilia smiled back, giving his mom a kiss on both cheeks, then she put her attention on Galina.
"My darling. You have no idea how wonderful it is to see you again, under these new circumstances" she said winking at her daughter-in-law.
"Valeria it is so wonderful to see you as well" Galina started. "We have much news to share with you" she told Ilia's mom. Getting a very bright smile from the woman, she ushered them towards the house.
"I have instructed Anton to put your bags in your old room, Ilia. I thought you and Galina would be the most comfortable there. It's away from the other rooms and you will have your privacy there" she said smiling.
"Now" she said looking at the both of them. "What's this news you have to share with me?"
