It'd been three weeks since Galina's rescue and while everything on the outside was healing just fine, her mind however was not.
She would stiffen every time Ilia tried to touch her, she would only give him her cheek when he tried to kiss her and she felt horrible for it.
He was trying his best, she knew that and what scared her the most was would he eventually tire of her behavior and leave her or worse, take a mistress? Shaking her head, she knew deep down that Ilia would never do that to her.
Continuing to be at war with herself, Galina finished her shower, fixed her hair and put on her makeup. With her towel firmly around her body, she walked to the closet looking for something to wear.
It was almost dusk, and with it rapidly approaching the fall season it was starting to get darker earlier. Ilia had asked her to dress comfortably and then told her to meet him downstairs in his study.
Picking out some comfy screen printed leggings and a over sized tee shirt, Galina slipped on some flats and headed to Ilia's office.
The door was opened so Galina walked in, her arms closed tightly across her chest, and up to Ilia who was staring at his laptop very intently.
"Hey" she said softly, making her presence known. Looking up at her and smiling, Ilia closed his laptop and held out his hand. Galina hesitated, but only for a moment and she took his hand allowing him to bring her closer.
"You look pretty" he said guardedly, hoping she would smile at him again...soon. A small, sad smile crossed her lips for a moment and then disappeared.
He sighed inwardly. It was a start anyway. "I have a surprise for you" Ilia said. She seemed to perk up a bit at his announcement.
"Come" he said, not willing to let her release his hand. He led her through the french doors of his study and out into the huge expanse of his gorgeous backyard.
They walked for what seemed like forever until they got to a narrow pathway, through some brightly colored foliage and then into a little clearing.
Galina's breath hitched when her eyes landed on his surprise. Their feet landed on very tiny pebbles that had been used to make a foundation, in a circle.
There were wooden chairs that sat low to the ground and a very cool looking outdoor fire pit and tiki torches.
A fire had already been lit, it's warmth and gentle glow were very relaxing to her and then she noticed that a small table had been set up and on it was what she assumed was their dinner.
"It's garlic and rosemary roasted chicken, baby potatoes and asparagus" he said as if reading her mind.
Galina took a strong whiff of the food and it made her stomach growl. "Galina?" Ilia said softly. "Hmm?" she responded, finally looking at him.
"Just eat what you can, okay? A little at a time" he said tenderly. She nodded and took a seat next to him.
They ended up having a very lovely meal together, they talked about little, nondescript things, anything but what had happened to her and she was just fine with that.
It was all going fine until Ilia leaned in and tried to kiss her. The look on her face ripped his heart in two. "What are you doing?" she snapped. Immediately she felt horrible.
His eyes darkened and this lips went into a thin line as he stood, grabbed a cigarette from his pants pocket, lit it and started pacing.
"Galina, I am so sorry about what happened to you" he started. "I wished every night since then that I could take back what you went through and what you had to endure, but I can't. The only thing I can do is try and be here for you, if you will let me."
"That's right!" she snapped. "You have no idea what I went through! I can't stand for anyone to get near me. The thought of you kissing me, makes me sick!" She didn't think of how hurtful her words sounded until they left her mouth and by then it was too late.
Pitching his cigarette angrily, he gave her a cold look and stomped off back towards the house. "Ilia!" she shouted but he just kept walking.
"Well fuck" she cursed under her breath. Getting up, she walked around a little bit and then found herself back by the fire, sitting, her hands out warming them as the orange and blue flames licked and danced in the night air.
Drawing her knees up to her chest, she bowed her head and started to sob. She wanted him to kiss her. She needed it. She wanted, so desparately, to feel his hands on her body, to feel him making love to her, but every time she closed her eyes, she saw that awful man and could feel his hands where they didn't belong.
Most of all she was so damn mad at herself for not stopping him. Tugging at her hair harshly, she kept up the internal battle with herself. She should have been able to push him off but because of whatever they injected her with, she had to endure his touch and the moans he made as he pleasured himself.
And then there was Allister. She had at least stopped it before it went too far, but she quickly changed and allowed her little monster slave to continue his torture of her.
Sighing she got up and started walking back to the house. She had managed to ruin Ilia's plans for the evening and she wondered if she would even see him again tonight.
For a moment, a very ungracious thought entered her mind. What if he was seeking comfort in someone else's bed because she couldn't give him what he needed? God, the thought made her sick!
Her mind started another war regarding this new line of thinking. If she hadn't run him off, he'd still be here. It would be her fault if he did seek someone else out. And for a second, she thought maybe he would be better off if he did.
Galina shook her head at that thought as she headed upstairs to their room. Ilia was no where to be found and as a matter of fact, Yuri said that he'd come in pissed off as hell and had Maxim take him somewhere.
Changing into a tank shirt and shorts, Galina settled down into bed, sleepy but she couldn't close her eyes. Ilia wasn't there to make sure there were no monsters under the bed. She knew it was immature to think that way, but she was still petrified to be left alone.
Sometime after getting in bed, Galina realized that she must have fallen asleep and was awakened by loud yelling and talking coming from downstairs.
Quickly getting up, she walked in a hurried pace towards the sound of the voices. They were coming from Ilia's study.
She heard Ilia's voice and he was arguing with Maxim and he was drunk. Very drunk. "She said me kissing her made her sick!" he slurred heavily.
Galina heard Maxim sigh. "Ilia, come on man. Think about what she went through and you know, deep down, in your heart, that she didn't mean it the way it came out. You need to cut her some slack."
Ilia scoffed. "I don't have a heart." His words were cold and sounded final. After that, she heard nothing but some stumbling around and Maxim saying 'shit'. She pushed the door opened and saw Ilia passed out on the couch.
Maxim looked at her sympathetically and said "You heard that, huh?" With tears blinding her, Galina nodded. "Galina..."Maxim started but she stopped him mid sentence.
"Will you please help me get him up to our room, please?" she begged Maxim. This was her mess and she would clean it up. She didn't know how but she would.
With Maxim's help, Ilia was brought upstairs, sat on the bed and his clothes removed except for his underwear. Galina pulled the sheet up to him, leaned forward and kissed his forehead. Then she kissed his cheek and finally she stared at his lips.
His lips were so sexy. They had brought her so much pleasure and not being able to hold back any longer, she pressed her lips to his. They felt soft and sensual, her lower region was slowly coming back to life.
She wanted him but she didn't know how to verbalize it. She had to fix this mess before she lost the best thing that she'd ever had in her life.
Letting out a ragged breath, Galina went to her side of the bed and crawled in. Caressing his cheek with her hand one more time, she whispered "Goodnight, Ilia. I love you."
