Chapter Seven
Meeting the Parents
The streets were empty as Adam unlocked his apartment, the door swinging into the room lit only by street lamps. The room was simple; furnished with a ratty old chesterfield and a lot of book shelves.
“So…” Adam said “You’re a witch?”
“You’re a wizard?” They smiled at each other from across the room, and Aria motioned with her finger for him to come closer. He crossed the room in a few long strides and stopped in front of her, so close their noses touched.
“Kiss me, please.” Aria begged, knotting her fingers in his brown hair, pulling him closer. He did just as she asked; letting their lips move in a dance only he seemed to know. At least, that’s what it seemed to Aria.
She gripped onto his shirt, trying to pull him closer. Her heart ached for the kind of closeness she had had with James, the passion she had felt as he caressed her. Adam’s touch was cold against her skin, sending only longing through her, frost covering her heart in a protective cage.
Adam felt nothing short of wonderful as he held Aria close; heat as her lips moved along with his own, fire whenever and wherever she touched him. Joy surged through his heart as their clothes fell to the floor, as he let his heart beat for her.
Her legs wrapped around his waits as he led her over to the bed, their lips never breaking apart.
Fields stretched out in front of them, a little stone cottage in the middle. The fields eventually turned into forests, full of great trees for climbing and deer that Aria used to watch for hours. She and Adam stood at the beginning of the dirt road through the fields to her home, staring ahead.
“Do you think they’ll like me?” he asked.
She looked up into his warm brown eyes which were narrowed and smiled “They’ll love you, Adam. You went to Mavelle, which immediately gets you into Mum’s good books, and you didn’t fail herbology!”
“Still, Aria. I’m not going to be an Auror or a healer or anything important like that. I’m going to be a journalist. That’s quiet different from saving people.” He ran his hand through his wind swept brown hair and sighed.
“You wont be saving people, Adam,” she said, squeezing his hand tightly “But you’ll be changing them. You’re such a powerful writer, and it’s an amazing gift.”
He sighed “Thank you Aria,”
“You’re welcome,” she kissed him quickly and tugged on his hand “Now come on, we’re late enough already!”
They walked down the dirt road Aria had driven down only months ago to start her new life in the city, with James. It made her heart ache to do so, but she couldn’t date someone for two months and not introduce him to her parents. She missed James, but now, she had Adam.

“So, Adam, how do you like London?” Neville asked, cutting his steak into tiny pieces.
“Its great! I love the city, even though it is a little hectic.” Adam smiled nervously and Aria squeezed his hand under the table.
“What brought you to London, Adam? I thought you went to Mavelle, in Canada?” Jazzmyn gave Adam a reassuring smile and narrowed her eyes at her husband, who was giving Adam a little bit of a hard time.
“I did live in Canada, but I lived here first.” He took a sip of the red wine Neville and Jazzmyn had served “I lived in London up until I was nine and then my Dad moved us to Toronto –that’s where the Canadian Ministry is- and we lived there. My brother and sisters are still going to Mavelle, and my parents still live in Toronto.”
