Chapter One
Out With the Old, In With the New
September 1st, One Year Later
“James Sirius Potter let me down this instant!” Aria Divine yelled, pounding on her best friends back with her fists.
James laughed “I don’t think so, its moving day!”
“I wanted to sleep,” she grumbled.
“I know Aria, but we have so much to do and so little time.”
“Fine, but put me down. And why are you even here? You’re supposed to pick me up at ten.”
He winked “Who said I was here,” with a pop, he had evaporated and Aria was alone. She sighed and headed for the tiny bathroom across the hall, content on a hot shower to wake her up.
“Aria, honey, where are you?” Jazzmyn called just as she stepped out of the steamy bathroom.
“Up here Mum, just getting ready.”
“Well don’t take to long, James will be here soon.”
She smiled, thinking of James flying to her house and into her room like during summer vacation at midnight. He wouldn’t need to do that any longer though.
Aria rushed down the stairs, the aroma of coffee leading her into the little kitchen at the back of her parent’s house. It used to be their house, but now it was just her parent’s. She was going to have her own home now.
“Here you go Arie,” her father said, giving her a cup of coffee and kissing her forehead “I’m sorry I have to go, but it’s the first day of school and-”
“I know Dad,” she said “Enjoy Hogwarts, and give it a good look for me, ‘Kay?”
“Of course Bud,” he called her by her old nickname-it used to be flower bud, but he shortened it to just ‘bud’ when she got older. “I’m sorry I can’t see you move out, but your Mum and I will drop by later on.”
“Definitely,” Jazzmyn said “But I can’t believe I have to send you off by myself!”
He kissed Jazzmyn, just like he had years ago when they first met, and brushed a curl away from her face “You’ll do fine, and I promise, we’ll have lots of wine tonight and drink away the pain of seeing our only child leave the nest.”
“Alright,” she said, pulling Neville closer by his tie and kissing him again.
“Goodbye love,” he said and hugged his daughter “Good luck Aria, are you sure you’re going to be alright?”
“Da-ad,” Aria said “I’ll be fine. Besides, James will be there to protect me!”
Dad sighed “Of course you couldn’t move in with Erica, you had to move in James instead.”
“Not my fault Erica fell in love with Matt,” she shrugged.
“You could all have shared an apartment!”
“No we couldn’t have,” Aria got up and started to push her father towards the fireplace “Now go, or you’ll be late!”
“Alright, alright!” he gave a final wave and stepped into the fireplace, yelling ‘Hogwarts, Professor Longbottom’s office!’ and was gone.
After an hour of hurried last minuet packing (I swear I already took all the junk from my closet, Mum! Really!) and many cups of coffee, they heard a horn honk outside. Rushing to her bedroom window, Aria saw James leaning against his car (and the horn), a big smile on his face.
