I'm sitting on my bed, currently watching Fast and the Furious.  Right when the good part is about to end, a commercial comes on. I groan and slam my head into my pillow.

Buzz.

Buzz.

"What the...?"

I look and see my phone vibrating on my night stand. Lucas's name flashes up on the screen and I answer it.

"Hey man. What's up?" I ask, laying back down onto my bed.

"She knows." Lucas squeaks.

My eyebrows scrunch together. Reality hits me like a brick and I sit upright in bed. "What?!" I question, my voice rising.

Lucas sneezes. He doesn't speak for a second. "Dude, I sneezed... What do you say?" He asks sassily.

"Lucas, tell me how she knows!" I shout into the phone.

"Oh sorry, man."

"It's fine."

Silence.

"Lucas?!" I yell.

"Sorry! Sorry! I have short term memory loss! It was Grace, she accidentally spilled the beans." He rushes out, his voice squeaking occasionally.

I groan and throw one of my books at the wall. I hear Amanda scream and I instantly become more alert.

"I'll be right back Lucas." I say, putting my phone on my bed and running out of my room and into Amanda's which is right next to mine.

"What happened?" I ask, barging into her room. Amanda rushes over to me and hugs my leg, hiding behind me.

"There's a monster in my wall, Cammy." Amanda murmurs.

I soften up for a second. "No there isn't, sweetie. I just got a little angry for a second and I threw my book at the wall. Nothing's gonna hurt you, okay?" I reassure her, bending down to her level and pull her into my arms.

"Okay." She mumbles into my shirt. "Why were you upset?" She asks.

I shake my head. "It's nothing."

Amanda pulls away and puts her hands on her hips. "Don't make me tell mommy about the colorful language Katie taught me." She threatens.

I groan. "You won't let that go, will you?"

She smiles and shakes her head. "Nuh-uh. Now tell me."

I sigh and look down. "Fine. I have a crush on Summer."

Amanda nods her head. "I already knew that... Why were you angry though?"

I glare at her. "I'm angry because Lucas's girlfriend told Summer that I liked her."

Amanda's smile drops. "Does she not like you back?" She asks, her eyes becoming sad.

I shake my head. "It's not that. I don't even know if she likes me... I'm just afraid of rejection, that's all."

Amanda puts a comforting hand on my shoulder. "I know I'm young, but I think you should tell her how you feel... Just think, 'What would Rapunzel do?'"

I nod, a determined look plastered across my face. "Alright, I'll do it."

I giver Amanda a quick hug before running back into my room. I grab my phone and lift it up to my ear.

"Lucas, I'm gonna do it." Is all I say before hanging up and shutting my TV off.

"What would Rapunzel do?" I ask myself, walking up to Summers front porch.

Tell her how you truly feel. My inner voice scolds. I chuckle and ring the doorbell.  The door opens and a middle aged lady appears.

"Hello?" She asks groggily.

"H-hi... I'm sorry to disturb you, I understand it's late..."

"It's 11:30." Mrs. Reed informs me.

I awkwardly clear my throat. "May I please just speak to Summer?"

"It can't wait?"

"No, I'm Cameron West-"

"Ah!! You're the boy I've heard so much about. Please, come inside."

My jaw drops in shock as I think over what I just heard. She heard a lot about me? I ask myself as I step into her home.

"Please, make yourself at home. I'll try and get Sum for you."

I nod and make my way over to the couch.  A couple minutes later, Summer comes walking into the room. Her hair is messy but to me she still looks gorgeous.

"What's up?" She asks, her voice a little scratchy.

I scratch the back of my head, suddenly nervous. "I just, uh... I wanted to tell you something."

She nods. "Do you want to talk on the porch?"

I nod my head slightly and make my way out of the door and take a seat on the steps of her porch. Summer takes a seat next to me and leans her head on my shoulder sleepily.

"What'd you wanna talk about?" She asks, yawning.

"It's about what Grace said..."

She sighs. "Don't worry about it. I figured it wasn't true anyways... How could a guy like you... Go out... With a..."

Her voice starts to drift off and I find myself smiling at her sleeping state.

I kiss the top of her head. "Well, it was true... I like you, I really do."

Summer's mom emerges from the doorway. "Oh! Here let me wake her up for you dear."

"No need, I'll just carry her to her room for you." I offer.

"Are you sure?"

I nod. "Absolutely."

I scoop Summer into my arms and carry her up the stairs and into her room.

I gently place her on the bed, making sure not to wake her up.  I place the cover on top of her and give her a gentle kiss on the forehead before turning around to walk out of the room.  Her mother is standing in the doorway and she gives me a small smile. As I leave she places a hand on my shoulder.

"You really care about her, don't you?"

I nod. "Yes, I do, ma'am. "

She smiles and leads me downstairs and out of the door. "Take good care of her."

"I will."
