Previously, the Gang (Liam, Kane, Isy, and Kate) just came out of Monjunis after having dinner together. At the Dinner, Kane and Kate were discussing her running away that morning. Kane eventually lets up and “forgets” the whole thing and promises to not tell their parents. Now, Samantha, their waitress comes and brings them their dinner. When Kane reaches to pay her, she tells him that someone has paid for their dinner. Turning around, Kane and Kate finds that the people who paid for their dinner were Isy and Liam. Liam and Isy made their way to the table, and Liam and a “delightful” conversation with Kate’s brother, but convinces him that he really loves Kate. At the beginning of this chapter, the gang as previously stated is standing in the Monjunis Parking Lot.
Kate’s POV
We were currently standing outside of Monjunis, just having a last minute conversation. But more awkwardly, Isy wasn’t participating in any of the conversation. That was very unlike her. Normally, she was the one who would come and start the conversation.
I made my way over to her.
“Hey, Isy,” I nudged her arm with my arm. She barely even smiled. “Clearly, something’s up. Its time for an emergency sleepover.”
This seemed to get her attention. She whipped her head around so fast, I thought I would get whiplash just looking at her.
“No, I mean… there’s nothing wrong with me. I’m fine. See…” She tried her vest to smile, but anyone who really knew her, would know that she was faking. But to tell you the truth, this made me worry about her. This was clearly very serious if she didn’t want me to know.
“Isy. I know you may not want to tell me right now, but please tell me why. You don’t have to now, but tell me whenever your ready.” This really hurt. We were supposed to tell each other everything. Or that’s the way its always been. I couldn’t help it, but display all the concern, hurt, and even disappointment on my face.
“Kate.” Isy began. “Its just, this is all very new to me.” She came a little closer, and then she whispered, “I think I like my best friend’s brother.”
Whoa, talk about a twist in plot. “How long?” that was all I could think of to respond with.
“I don’t know. I think maybe a while, but it wasn’t as bad as it is now.”
“Why-“ but I didn’t get to finish.
“Kate.” I would know that voice anywhere. “What are you during here?”
I turned around to face what I thought was a Greek god all those years. Before me stood Liam’s twin. The one who no longer had my heart. “Hey, Lucas. We were just having dinner.”
“We? You and Isy?” He briefly winked at Isy.”
“Yeah. Isy, Kane, Liam, and –“
“Liam?” I didn’t know if it was me but he appeared to be shocked at the fact that Liam was hanging out with the three of us.
“Yeah.” I nodded where Liam was, standing next to my brother. I watched as he sauntered to his twin.
Lucas’s POV
Before I saw them walk out of there. I was going to pick up my togo order. And then when I went to get out of my car, I saw Kate, She was hot. She was hot, nice, funny, and I had a jhunch that she was one of those girls that secretly partied hard. And plus a little birdie told me that there was a chance she had a thing for me for a really long time. Now she wasn’t the tyupe I would normally wouldgo with, but I wanted a challenge. I wanted to chase that wild eyed doe down that last stretch of the mother nature’s great wood.
So I got out of my car, put on my million dollar smirk, and walked over. I figured since Kate had a thing for me since forever, so I figured this would be the perfect time to pull out my hunting gear and get the perfect prize for the best hunter on this side of the wood.
And don’t get me started, when she said she was with Isy, Kane, and Liam, my brother of all people, I didn’t know what to do. So I walked over to where Kane and Liam were standing. And what really made my day was when I felt Kate’s eyes on me as I walked away. Clearly, she still had feelings for me.
“Hello, brother. Hey, Kane.” I knew that neither expected to see me. “So whats going on tonight?”
“Hey, Lucas. We were just having dinner.”
“Something tells me something else went on here tonight. Liam?”
Liam confirmed my suspicions when he started rubbing the back of his neck. “Well, I really fell hard for someone today. Turns out she felt the same way. And I asked to be my girlfriend, and she said yes.”
Personally, Liam was the type of guy who is really nice to other girls who try to flirt with him, but he won’t go past that. So when he told me this, I was really happy for him. Its not everyday when your goody goody twin tells you he has a girlfriend.
“Oh man. Wow. Something really did happen. I’m so proud of you.” I really was, I embraced him in a hug. Him and Kane were the only ones I would hug, not even my flavors of the week. “I’ve got to meet this girl. She must be something special if you asked her out.”
Kane placed his hand on my shoulder. “I’m sure you will. But in the meantime, Nathan’s throwing a party at his place tonight. You wanna go?”
“Heck, yeah. I’m going, Nathan throws the craziest parties. You?
“Yeah, I have to. I’m the MVP of the team, and this is a team party after all.”
“You wish you were the MVP, but Nathan’s not even on the team though?”
“We both are the MVPs. Without us, the team wouldn’t have any victories.”
“Your right. Hey, Liam, want to come?”
“Nah, I think I might lay low for a while. And besides, the next party I go to, I’ll go with my girlfriend.”
I shrugged it off, “ Your loss. Besides I think I might try a new flavor tonight.” I saw Kane check the time on his phone.
“I guess now is the perfect time to be fashionably late. You ready my friend?”
“You already know the answer.”
“Hey Kate.” He pulled out his keys. “Do me a favor, take my car and then take Isy home”
“Well, me and Isy were gonna have a sleepover tonight.” Kate Shrugged.
Kane turned to me. He gave me “the look.” I could already tell we were going to have a fun night.
