I was the ‘It Girl’ of Trent Lee High School. The one that every girl secretly wanted to be, some more than others, but still. I was the one. I was the one who was the face of popularity. Shoot, I was the walking definition of popularity. I had the looks the walk, the clothes and everything else. I even had the school’s MVP, the quarterback of the football team Lucas Williams as mine. I ruled the school. I was the queen of Trent Lee High.

Okay, so I’m not that girl, I’m the complete opposite. Im the plankton at the bottom of the food chain. I’m a nobody at my school. No one ever notices me unless it’s to tease me. It’s like I’m invisible.

My name’s Kate, well really its Katherine, but I simple go by Kate. At school, no one ever really talks to me. But today, no, everything is going to change. I’m going to become the ‘it girl’. I’m going to improve myself to the point where I’m unrecognizable. I planned on slimming down, getting rid of my glasses and braces, and then improve my personality. My motivation for this summer was simply ‘be somebody’. My freshman and sophomore years totally sucked. And I wanted to make sure my junior year was parallel to them.

Laying in my king sized bed tight now, I’m not really totally sure how I’m going to change and improve myself. Since I’ve never really experienced popularity, I would probably need someone who has. Then I had the perfect idea, I could ask my older brother, Kane to help me.

My brother, Kane, was the total popularity package. He had the looks, the personality, the game, and the confidence, he had the surfer boy kind of look. He had blonde hair, ark brown at the roots, brown speckled, green eyes, and dimples that only showed when he truly smiled. And trust me he smiled a lot, but most of the time it wasn’t a true smile. His personality was nothing like the populars’ personality. He was nice, funny, modest, smart, and cheeky. He got along with everyone he met and everyone that crossed his path liked him. Which is one of the reasons why he’s pretty much the team captain of every team he was on. Kane was pretty much an all sport kind of guy. Any sport he tried, he succeeded at it. But he was dedicated to football and track. He was the running back of the football team and the fastest runner on the track team. But the thing I loved most about my brother is his confidence. He’s one hundred percent confident, but not in the cocky way. He doesn’t care when some of the other footballers say that he shouldn’t be hanging out with someone that’s not in the ‘in crowd’. He simple tells them that once in their lives they were outside the ‘in crowd,’ and that usually shuts them up.                Kane ,in my eyes, is a real role model. He carries himself very modestly, like our dad. He’s pretty much the only jock that doesn’t date or got to any of the parties. When asked, whether it be for the parties or why he doesn’t date, he simply says he’s waiting for the right one.

Getting Kane to help me with my plan would be a synch. I smile just thinking about how everything’s going to be different in just two months. I turn over in my bed, only to get a faceful of red hair. I’m a little shocked to find another body in my bed, but then I remember my best friend, Isabelle, stayed the night. She practically has a luggage of her clothes at my house in case she comes over and decides to stay.

Isabelle is my best friend in the whole wide world. Even though she may go to a different school, Woodridge Prep, she’s still my best in the whole wide world. Whenever we can, we do anything and everything together. She’s like my other half. Except for the fact that we look nothing alike and she’s the ‘it girl’ at her school. Yep, shocker isn’t it? A nobody being best friends with a somebody.

She’s pretty much like my brother, except she doesn’t play sports, she does competitive cheerleading. As I try to get her hair out of my face, I can’t help but be jealous of her. She has red, wavy hair and forest, green eyes with long eyelashes and fair skin, she never really wore make up. Just a little here and there. Sometimes when I say to her, I wish I looked like you, she always responded with, “No you don’t! You don’t want to look like a leprechaun all the time do you? And besides your beautiful! You look way much better than me.” Don’t get me wrong about my looks or anything. I looked like Kane minus the fact that he’s a guy and all. I have the same blonde hair that’s brown at the roots, but instead of green eyes that he got from dad, I got blue eyes from mom. I’m average height, but there’s nothing out of the ordinary about me.
