It was the summer of 2016 when something amazing had happend to Emma Fields. It had not been what she had expected. The emotional, yet thrilling summer she had experienced  was something she couldn't believe happened. It all started when she was sixteen years old, she had moved from Toronto Ontario to Rosewood Pennsylvania. She had to move for her parents job. Her parents were detectives and had been assigned to work for the Rosewood P.D. They had moved to a street near a baseball diamond known as the Sandlot.

It was right at the end of June on a hot sunny day, Emma was out helping her parents move boxes into the house. She was outside when she caught her eye on a boy who was walking past her house. He was Hispanic looking and had slightly tanned skin, dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. He looked about the same age as her. He was wearing what had looked like an L.A Dogers cap, a Jersey with a shirt underneath, with jeans and converse.

She had given him quite the stare. She thought he was good looking and hadn't realized how long she was staring at him until he looked at her. She immediately looked away pretending like she hadn't been staring. Shit I've already embarrassed myself She thought. She had only seen him for about 10 seconds and then he was gone continuing down the street. She was hoping she would see him around again because he was kind of attractive.
That night her parents had encouraged her to make some friends and talk to some of the neighbours and she did. She had become friends with Shay Mitchell who was ironically also sixteen.

Shay was absolutely stunning with being mixed race: half Filipino and half Irish and Scottish, you could see where her beauty came from. She had olive coloured skin, dark brown hair, brown eyes and she was a little bit taller than Emma. They had become friends with in only a few days.

One morning Emma was home alone and decided to go outside and set out the plants in the front yard. Again she saw across the street walking past her house that same attractive boy she had seen a few days ago. He was with another boy this time and they were tossing a baseball back and forth. He was wearing something similar to the other day. Emma had actually dressed similar to him. She always wore ripped jeans, baggy tee shirts, flannels baseball tees, and converse. She wasn't the typical girl. She mostly wore her blond hair tied back in a low ponytail. Emma could see at the corner of her eye something fly onto her lawn. She turned around and saw that it was a baseball. The boy from across the street lightly jogged over to her side of the street was approaching her lawn. She pretended not to notice. She didn't want to make eye contact with him she felt embarrassed that he may have caught her staring from the other day.

"Sorry about that." She heard him say. She turned around startled and looked at him. Woah she thought. This boy was even more attractive now that she had a better look of him. She had even thought he was hot. "What?" She said trying to get her words together. While fixing her hair. "About the ball," he continued. "My friend over there has shitty aim." "Oh.." She said looking at his friend from across the street with a baseball glove in his hand. "that's okay" she smiled. "Whats your name?" He cocked his head. "I'm Emma Fields. I literally moved here four days ago because of my parents jobs." "Jobs? What do they do, is your dad some MLB player or something like that?" he asked. "No!" She laughed "My parents are detectives and are working for the Rosewood P.D. we moved from Toronto." "Cool." He smirked a really attractive smirk. Emma's heart rate went up. "Who are you?" Emma said. "I'm Benny Rodriguez." He stuck out his hand and shook mine. "Well nice to meet you. Where do you live?" "Right across the street a couple houses down. So I guess we're neighbours." He smiled again. Emma wanted to extend the conversation but was interrupted by him. "Well I'm going down to the Sandlot now. The team is waiting for me. But I'll see you around." He turned away. "Don't you need the ball to play?" Emma said sarcastically. "What?" Benny was clueless. He didn't realize that he hadn't picked up his baseball. He was too busy talking to Emma. "Oh jeez. I do man. Thanks." He smiled and took off to the sandlot. After that, all day Emma was thinking about Benny Rodriguez.
