Chapter 14

The next day it rained so Benny and the guys spent the day inside playing video games. Benny wanted to still go play but none of the others wanted to get drenched in rain so Benny agreed to stay inside.

Benny's phone buzzed. He took a quick look at it and saw that Emma had texted him saying afternoon Rodriguez and a smile instantly came across his face. He wanted to pause the game to answer her but instead he had Ryan take over his turn.
Benny: afternoon Canadian what's good

-he felt slightly dumb sending that

Emma: Just spending time with my parents hbu?
Benny: Just gaming with the guys
Emma: what are you playing?
Benny: MLB Derby LOL
Emma: LOL I knew it! So I was wondering if you were busy later
Benny: I was just gonna ask you the same thing lol. Did you wanna come watch a movie with us later at my house?
Emma: I'd love to. I vote on a scary one
Benny: sure if your not too scared
Emma: I'm not scared! I can handle any scary movie. It's you I'm unsure of
Benny: yeah whatever come over at seven okay?
Emma: okay see you then :) don't be scared

"Who are you texting? Your girl friend?" Marcus said. "Shut up. How many times do I gotta say it, she's not my girlfriend." He said. "You wish she was." Aaron said. "Yeah, whatever. She's gonna watch a movie with us later and don't embarrass me." He said. "Okay then Shay's coming too." Aaron said. "Sure," Benny said. "Shay, Emma Ashley and Lucy will come." Aaron said.

Later on Audrey texted Benny and was very dry with her. He didn't really feel like talking to Audrey at the moment. Audrey wants me to go to the movies with her." Benny said confused. "You two alone?" Ryan said. "Yeah, that's a little weird." Benny said. "Yeah, just say your busy." Kevin said. "She's nice and all but I'm not doing that stuff. Not with her." Benny said. "Maybe she likes you." Aaron said. Benny ignored Aaron's comment.

At about seven o'clock Emma came over. Benny's mom answered the door. "You must be Emma." She said with a big smile. "I'm Holly."
"Hi nice to meet you." Emma was glad she had finally met Benny's mom. She was very nice. She showed Emma to where they were. She was the first girl to arrive. Later on Shay, Ashley and Lucy came. Lucy had said that some how Hailee and Audrey found out about their plans for the night so they ended up joining them. They all were in the basement ready to watch the movie. There were two couches Benny, Emma, Shay and Aaron were on one and Ryan, Marcus, Kevin and Smalls were on the other. Joe, Harry and Russell sat on the comfy chairs and so did the other girls. During the movie at one of the jump scares Emma grabbed Benny's hand. "Sorry." She said quickly removing her hand realizing what she had done. "It's okay." He smiled at her. Emma quickly looked away and stared at the movie.
At the end of the movie Joe, Marcus, Ryan, Kevin and Russell left. The rest of them stayed for a little while longer. They did what the typical classic kids from the 60's did. They didn't care that it was 2016. They played cards for about an hour. The boys especially loved cards. Emma only knew how to play a couple games but by the end of the night she knew a lot more. They all played except for Audrey and Hailee. Audrey began flirting with Benny and Benny apparently didn't realize it. Emma was getting extremely annoyed and so were the other girls. Benny could sort of tell something was up. He didn't like knowing that something was off with Emma. Soon the girls left and it was only Benny Aaron and Smalls left. "Benny are you going to date Emma?" Smalls asked. "What? Nah. I don't know how she feels about me." "Well ask her."
"I can't just ask her blockhead. I can't just be like oh yeah do you like me cuz I really like you. Doesn't work like that man."
"On a scale of one to ten how much do you like her?"
"I don't know why are you asking so many questions?!"
"You must know how much you like her!" Smalls said. "You're being really dumb man!" Benny said getting annoyed. "Just answer the question!"
"Fine! an eleven I guess."
"Oh my gosh you love her!" Smalls yelled. "Shhh!" Benny said. "Stop being so loud about it!"
"Sorry." Smalls said. "Do you ever plan on making a move? It's been almost a month now." Aaron said. "Shut up man it took you like half a year to actually start talking to Shay." Benny said in defence. "I know, I know but I'm just saying." Aaron said. Benny really did like her. Baseball had always mattered to most to him. He liked other girls in the past but he always still cared about baseball more. He did not like them as much as he liked Emma. "Emma's different you know." Benny said. "She's different from most girls. That's why I really like her. She's not into the same stuff most girls are. She actually likes and knows stuff about baseball, she's funny and she's hot, seriously did you see her at the beach? She's beautiful." "Yeah dude but I was looking at Shay more." Aaron said. "No shit man. I'm just saying I've never felt this way about a girl before." He said with a small smile. "I know, I know. I think it would be cool if you guys were a thing." Aaron said. Benny thought he would be the perfect guy for her. They had a lot in common and he loved that she's loved baseball like he did. He loved everything about her.
