Chapter 13

Emma finally fell asleep and was the first one up at Ashley's. They all got up and got ready for the day. They were headed for the sandlot. Emma was still worried about Audrey knowing she her feelings towards Benny, but what her friends told her did make sense. She would have to have a reason to tell him. It would make her look like she's gossiping or starting drama. Or like an annoying bitch. Even though she low key was.

"It just annoys me so much, like why does she hang around us if she's pissed at us?" Ashley said. "Cuz she's literally in love with Benny!" Emma said. "She needs to get her shit together. Benny doesn't even like her back." Shay said. "Did he before?" Emma asked hoping he didn't. "I don't think he did. He never made a move on her. He doesn't even talk to her that much." Lucy said. "Did he know she liked him?"
"I don't think so. He may have suspected but he never actually knew because they don't talk enough." Ashley said. "Well she sure is trying to talk to him a lot more now." Emma said. "Shay if you saw her at that campfire last night you would have definitely known she liked him." She said again. "Yeah she tried to sit close to him and he looked uncomfortable with it and she's talking to him a lot more lately she doesn't realize shes making it more obvious for herself than for you Emma." Lucy said. That was very true. Maybe Benny does know about her. "I just can't take her anymore! She's so annoying! I'm sorry I know you guys are friends with her but I can't stand her." Emma said. "Do you guys see the way she looks at him?!" Emma continued to rant. "Like as if her likes her back or like she's trying to dangle him in front of me it's so annoying!" "It's okay we understand." Shay said.

They stopped talking as they got to the sandlot. Benny was there with Smalls, Joe, Kevin and Aaron. The rest had not gotten there yet. But Audrey was there. She was sitting in the dugout where Emma usually sat when she watched Benny play. Emma couldn't believe it. Of course they all had to be natural. Emma went to sit on the bleachers with Lucy and Ashley obviously she wasn't going to sit with Audrey. Shay went to see Aaron of course. "Canadian." Benny instantly turned to Emma. "Rodriguez," she said. "We're you okay last night?" He said non chalantly. "Oh yeah. Trust me I was. I just didn't realize the time that's all." She said shrugging the subject off. "Okay." He smiled and went back to playing. "Aw that was so cute of him to ask." Ashley said in a playful voice. "What the hell is she doing..." Lucy said looking at Audrey. Audrey sat there holding a little mirror infront of her face putting on mascara. "Oh my god. She rarely ever wears makeup. I wonder why she decided to put it on now." Ashley said sarcastically. Emma couldn't help but laugh. She was dying she laughed so hard she had tears in her eyes. Lucy and Ashley were laughing because of how funny it was to watch Emma die of laughter. "What's so funny?!" The boys turned around to watch Emma killing herself laughing on the ground. Audrey looked over batting her eye lashes which made Emma laugh even more. Benny walked over smiling. "What the hell is so funny?" Emma finally stopped laughing as everyone was staring at her. "Oh I just thought of something funny." She said as she finally and stopped laughing. "You're weird Emma." Benny said. "You're weird!" She said back to him. Emma told the girls the real reason why she was laughing. She just thought it was hilarious the way she batted her eye lashes trying to look good for every one. If only Benny would notice how cringey she was. But Emma seriously didn't understand why she thinks she has a chance with him when they barely talk.

"Okay this is annoying." Ashley said getting up going over to Audrey. "Ashley no! What are you doing?!" Emma said hoping she wasn't going to go tell her off. "Audrey what are you doing?" She said. "Huh?" She said clueless. "What's up?" Ashley said. "I'm just watching them play since I have nothing better to do." She said. "Hmm okay, is that mascara?" "Yeah. I just thought I should touch myself up." "Oh I didn't know you were into that stuff." "I am a little bit. I've been more into it lately though." She said stroking one of her orange curly pieces of hair. 'I wonder why' Ashely thought. "Have you seen Hailee?" She's asked her. "No I haven't. She's coming a bit later." "Okay." Audrey said walking away. "You didn't say anything right?" Emma said. "No I was just low key trying to dig something out of her but I kept it really short and I asked about Hailee. She said she might come later."

Later on Audrey left and Hailee showed up. They didn't bother explaining to Hailee about Audrey. Hailee had always been the closest to Audrey. Audrey had other friends from her soccer team but Hailee was her closest friend out of the group. So they didn't fully trust her.

Soon it was only Hailee, Emma and Audrey at the sandlot with Benny and the remaining boys. Emma wanted to leave but she wanted to stay with Benny. Clearly Audrey did too. She noticed from a far that her and Benny were talking. She could only pick up bits and pieces of what they were saying. It looked like Audrey was flirting. Emma didn't like it one bit and got up and left. "Not again Emma aren't you gonna say bye?" Benny said watching her leave. "Yeah bye sorry I have to go." She said getting out A.S.A.P. When she got home he had texted her.

Benny: Emma
Emma: Hi Benny
Benny: why do you do that?
Emma: do what?
Benny: leave without saying bye?
Emma: I just had to go.
Benny: you said that yesterday
Emma: I know I'm sorry. I don't know why I did that
Benny: it's okay. You okay for real tho?
Emma: yes I am thank you
Benny: okay good. Night Canadian
Emma: night Rodriguez

Just like that Emma was flattered that he had texted her to make sure she was okay. She was okay she was just annoyed with Audrey. She couldn't tell him. So she wasn't completely lying to him. She just wanted to avoid any complications with him. She just hoped that Benny wouldn't catch feelings for Audrey. Emma had liked boys in the past but never has she felt the same way about guy as she did for Benny.
