Beyond the Country we all Go

Mia stands in front of everyone. We each have a hiking backpack with our stuff strapped on our backs. Mine is heavy, and hard to carry. Mia talks about where we will go. I don't pay a bit of attention to her, which isn't like me at all. There is a knock from the exit door. "Who's there?!" I whisper shout. A voice softly whispers through the door. "Mockingjay." The voice whispers. I open the door, knowing that they will be someone who is supposed to be here. There, stands Katniss Everdeen. Everyone stares in awe. She's supposed to be dead..?

"You're alive Katniss..." A girl with boycut blonde hair gasps. "I faked my death, placed a false body, and escaped." Katniss plainly grunts. "I thought someone would have guessed that by now." Her hair is tied in a braid down her shoulder. "I've been in touch with Mia over there and Peeta as well." Katniss smiles. Mia waves to Katniss. "Peeta should be heat any minute now." Mia says. Katniss stands in the corner of the room. "Crystal?" Mia stares at me. "Yes?" I answer in reply. "You can come stand up here." Mia winks.

I walk through the people to stand beside Mia at the front of the room. About fifteen people stand in the room, ready to leave District 13, to leave Panem once a for all. I don't blame them for coming. "Jewel..?" Katniss says to me. "I'm her twin sister. Jewel is dead unfortunately." I grunt. "Oh. Well, I'm sorry for your l-loss." Katniss stutters. She turns away from me, as tears form in her eyes. I don't blame her either. She just discovered that the tribute she trained is dead. "She didn't die in the games. She died while attacking the Capitol." I mutter under my breath.

Katniss opens the door slightly and then opens it all the way. Peeta Melark walks in, with Charlie beside him. "Charlie?" I gasp. "This little thing wanted me to come with. I agreed." Charlie snorts. Peeta grunts, mad at Charlie. "Peeta, or shall I call you a Salsa Pita?" Charlie snickers. Peeta turns around, his fist out. "Charlie! Shut up!" I shout. Charlie looks at me. Peeta lowers her fist. "What the girl said." Peeta grunts. They walk into the room. Charlie dissappears into the crowd. I've never seen him like that. What does he have against Peeta..? I rub my eyes, beginning to listen to Mia.

"We leave in groups of three. You will be numbered off. When your number is called, leave, and wait for us at the first willow tree." Mia says. She gives everyone a number. I'm number five, so I'll leave last, with Mia and Katniss. As the first group leaves, I see Peeta dissappear with them. Three groups, then I'm free of District 13's grasp. The second the third group goes, I get excited. Jewel's Mockingjay necklace clings against another necklace I wear. The other one is in a shape of a leaf, and has Jewel's ash inside.

The fourth group leaves, and I begin to jump. Katniss laughs at me. I must look like a retard, jumping up and down like this. I stop. "Let's go." Katniss says through her laughs. We walk out the exit door. A fall chill fills the air. I shiver. The first willow I say in my head. I walk beside Mia, who sniffs the air. "It smells like home." Her eyes focus at the forest, which seems like 20 yards away. I smile. "I'm free." I gasp. "Free of the Districts. Free of the Capitol." I sing song. Katniss whistles beside Mia. She must be in charge of everything. She seems so serious.

We jump the fence, and run for the forest. My backpack is heavy, as though it holds some of our food. Mia pants beside me. We reach the willow tree, where everyone stands. A cold wind pricks my skin. "This is what free feels like." I gasp every ounce of the air. "Enough of this free junk, let's get moving. Follow me at all times." Katniss firmly shouts at us. I begin to walk. Mia walks beside me. She turns around. "Goodbye Bad food." She chuckles. I laugh. "Oh Mia." The clouds cover the sun. A bird sings, not any ordinary bird. A mockingjay.
