Xander began barking out orders at Liam and Blake, who immediately did what they were ordered to do. Xander took my hand and dragged me away from the pack house and to the direction of our house. He was walking so fast that I had to run to catch up with him. We reached our house in two minutes. Xander slammed the door of our house open and stormed inside, making his way up the stairs and into his office, slamming the door behind him.

I went inside and closed the door behind me, leaning against it to hold my weight. I feel my body shaking at what just happened in front of the pack house today. Wolves died because of me. It may not be from Xander's pack, but they still died. They have families back in my old pack waiting for them to return. What will happen now? Xander just declared war on my old pack. We're going to need all the help we can get. I suddenly remembered what Cameron said to me ' Your mate will protect you and if you ever need extra help just give me a call. I'm only one call away.' I have to tell Cameron what happened today to let him know that Xander declared war on my old pack, and we might need extra help.

I made my way up the stairs and into Xander's office. I opened the door and peeked inside to see him writing furiously while holding the phone with his other hand. His head snapped up at the sound of his office door opening but focused on what he was doing as soon as he saw me. I went inside and sat on the recliner and watched him.

He looked really stressed out. His hair is messy as if he had been running his hand in it over and over again, his face is sweaty, and his eyes showing the stress and exhaustion that he's feeling. Overall, he looks five years older than his current age.

"Of course, I will see you in two days. Goodbye," he said to the person on the phone before hanging up.

I made my way beside him and wrapped my arms around his waist, feeling him tense up for a few seconds before relaxing in my arms. I put my face on his back and hugged him from behind. I felt him turn his body in my direction before his arms wrapped around me in a tight embrace. I lifted my head from his shoulder and looked at him. I can see the exhaustion in his eyes, making my wolf whimper, feeling worried for her mate.

"Please don't stress yourself over this," I told him.

"No! I need to have a meeting with the Alphas from the neighboring packs to see if I can make an alliance with them to help us win this war." Xander said, a determined expression on his face.

"Cameron and his pack can help us. He said that we have his full support if my old pack decides to fight us," I told him, hoping that he will accept Cameron's help. As soon as I mentioned Cameron, I saw Xander's eyes darken before he let out a loud growl that made my ears ring.

"No! We don't need his help! I have this under control. We can win without him." Xander growled out.

I looked at him and sighed.

"Xander, please let him help. We're going to need all the help we can get," I pleaded.

"No, Samantha! We don't need his help. Now, let it go," Xander said in his Alpha voice, making me and my wolf whimper. I saw his eyes soften before he let out a sigh. He put his fingers under my chin gently and made me look at him.

"Sam, look, I have this under control. I'll call Cameron if we need his help, but we don't. Please, just trust me in this. Do you trust me?" Xander asked softly.

I looked at him and saw the honesty and affection in his eyes. I nodded at him, my throat suddenly feeling dry.

Xander smiled at me before kissing my nose. "Good," he said before putting his lips on mine. I froze. I can feel his lips moving against mine. I didn't know what to do, so I just followed his lead. I can feel the passion through that kiss, fire burning inside of me, but in a good way. I felt him smile against my lips, kissing me for a few more seconds before pulling away.
